Stereo Question

Okay guys, by next week i will have all my equipment and materials to go through with this aftermarket sound system I have been dreaming up ever since I bought this car last year.

I have a few questions though regarding the stock sound system. Please keep in mind that I own a BASE trim G35sport. I don't know for sure, but I think I have a 6 speaker system w/ no subs?

Do I have a stock subwoofer in my car? If not, is there a hole in the rear deck for the subwoofer you get in the premium package?

Also, I'm thinking of only sound deadening the trunk area to save money and weight. I ordered 50 square feet of B-Quiet Ultimate...I think this will be plenty of sound deadening material, but do you guys think I should go ahead and do the doors and floor?

I want to use B-Quiet Ultimate because of this resource posted below

http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/prices/

Thanks for all input.

6 speakers- yes.

Stock subwoofer- no.

Hole in the rear dec- yes.

2 JL 12w3's? That's gonna be pretty loud.

I added a single Image dynamics IDQ10v3 and it sounds fantastic without over powering the rest of the stereo. I only have about 300 watts going to it and the amp is turned down.

Something you'll need to do is find a solution for two annoying vibrations from the bass:
1. the license plate (some sticky felt will do the trick).
2. The plastic surrounding the 3rd brake light (I put two small pieces of rubber between it and the rear windshield).

I don't know if sound deadening is really needed though. My sub is very loud inside the car (due to the 10" open hole in the rear deck where the bose sub goes in the SOW system), and very quiet outside of the car.

I purchased the dynamat license plate kit, and I will keep in mind about the plastic surrounding the 3rd brake light. Yeah I figured 1 sub would be enough...also, do you have a ported box for you subwoofer?

So you would recommend no dynamat...awesome, this might end up being a lot cheaper than I thought. I'm goin to order a 250/1v2 and just use one sub then. Thanks silver

nice setup man...i would like to hear both of your honest opinions on the power though. is 250watts rms enough? i think it is...but do you guys ever regret not having more power. keep in mind, i'm coming from an all SPL system with 13w7 and 1000/1...i'm trying to go for balanced SQ with my stock 6 speaker system and a 250/1 and 12w3

i think 250 is enough for my 10w3v3. i usually have the amp's remote **** turned down about 1/2 way.

when i have it turned up all the way, it just overpowers the factory system.

My box is sealed. I like the tight clean bass from a sealed box. The sub I went with is definitely a Sound Quality sub. In fact, the previous version (v2) won some award for best sound quality sub of the year or something. I'm very happy with it.

If I want my ears to hurt, I can just turn up the amp. At about 3/4 on the amp and bass at half, the sub easily over powers the rest of the speakers (and I can't see out the rear view mirror).

250 rms should definitely be plenty.

My amp is 150 rms max at 4 ohms (dual 2 ohm coils on my sub). And I'm definitely not using all that power.

But, while my sub sounds great and has more bass than I need, it's not going to come close to how loud a 13w7 with 1000 watts is.

If you're a JL guy though, a 12w3 should be a great setup with a 250/1. I could've flipped a coin between getting the Image dynamics sub and a 10w3. I just kept reading great thing after great thing about the sub I got, and the reviews were accurate. It replaced the round kicker solobaric 10" sub I had for years. Night and day difference in SQ. So different it's laughable.

Good luck with the setup, glad we could save you some cash. You could always dynamat later, but I doubt you will want/need to.

I don't know about the non-Bose, but adding 4 tweeters in addition to sub, made a world of a difference to my Bose system in which both the highs and lows are muted.

^ what setup did you use for the bose system?
the mids are amazing and I wouldnt want to touch the speakers but improved lows and highs would be nice
