Question Handling!!! what next?

Ok guys reason I'm posting this is because I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Firstly I recently installed my Hotchkis ARBs and HFC (all good so far, and I have the ARBs set to the softest settings).

Now the car doesn't lean as much when taking corners, but if I'm going at high speeds on an un-even road then its hard keeping the car straight, the upgraded ARBs are pushing into the pot holes and the un-even road surfaces which makes steering the car straight somewhat harder. Does anyone know what I mean?

Now, obviously I need some sort of suspension upgrade. Now I really cannot go slamming the car down, as I wouldn't be able to drive around 50% of the city I'm in. The roads here are unbelievably bad, especially the industrial area I work in.

So now does anyone know if springs alone would do the job? I've had fully adjustable coil-overs in my older cars and they have made a huge difference, but I'm wondering if there's a better option to improving the handling. What would you guys choose to do next and in order of priority:

1- Fully adjustable coil-overs?

2- Upgraded springs?

3- GT-Spec struts and sub-frame holders?

The reason I'm in a dilemma is because would it be worth investing in fully adjustable coil-overs and drop the car by the smallest margin possible? Or would I get the same "handling" benefits by just fitting some uprated springs to the stock shocks?

Thanks in advance for any feedback given

18 views and no replies, c'mon guys its not like I'm asking a scientific question, just pick from the below three:

1- Fully adjustable coil-overs?

2- Upgraded springs?

3- GT-Spec struts and sub-frame holders?

Sorry, I am one of the guys who peeked and left without posting. I didn't realize the requirement to post.
In that case, I say, go with the most expensive of the three options.

Coilovers sound like a great starting point.
(I'm on 370Z front springs)

FWIW
I'm just in the process of adding the GT-Spec hardware to the front
-GTspec front strut-bar
-GTspec 2pts Subframe Reinformcement brace
-GTspec 4 point Ladder Brace
-GTspec front subframe Tie brace

and....
Adding Stillen sways

I'd say go with better tires. 235/255 F/R or more if you can will stick you to the road really nicely.

Stiffening the chassis using braces will theoretically make it "harder" to steer in the situation you were describing. Chassis flex actually helps the car stick to the road. Braces in general are used to make steering and handling more predictable. Plus bracing has the least effect unless you go with every possible brace, and by then you could've got some nice coilovers for the price.

Springs IMO are a waste if you're looking for better handling. Stiffer springs with stock struts will lead to a bouncy ride and thus you're back to the same problem with the uneven roads in your area.

Coilovers, although expensive, would be the best choice on the list IMO.

coilovers only give you more choices regarding spring rates and adjustable ride height. If you don't a rate that's not available though just springs, why go to coilovers?

Humm, I think Q8y_drifter has a point about the GT-spec braces without the coil-overs, so I think coilovers first and then braces.

you make a good point, tires will help, I was having the same conversation with my cousin and he was saying the same thing. I think the next big step would have to be coilovers and then braces/tires.....didn't want to start spending so much , found myself looking at the twin turbo kit only $8,000....hard to resist , the main thing that's stopping me is how would I re-map after the installation

Well I would agree with Q8y, the ride would be more bouncy without changing the oem shocks.

I think it's pretty clear, Coilovers it is lol. Now I have to do my research, anyone got any popular recommendations?

P.S. Never knew this sub-forum existed lol, thanks to whoever for moving it (I have a sneaky feeling that InTgr8r is the culprit)

Um if you upgrade your springs, you would upgrade your shocks also. Especially if the springs are beyond the control rate of the oem shocks anyway. It's your money though. Good luck.

do you have really wide tires in the front? That makes the car hard to keep straight and pront to bump-steer.

Not sure if I understood you correctly, so are you saying that I should just get coilovers and forget just replacing the springs?

Fronts 225/50 R18
Rears 245/45 R18

not wide at all, I know it's the ARBs because it didn't do this before, and it would make sense, the roads here are really bad and with upgraded ARBs they're bound to dig in more. On smooth roads it's perfect handling
