Driveway Austin

Has anyone been to this racing school? Today was the first time I have heard about. I am waiting on a call back for more info. You can check out the web site at drivewayaustin.com. It seems like decent prices, till you get to the 4th class. Let me know if any of y'all are interested in going. Maybe we could get a group discount. I have no idea but it's worth a shot.

wow great find! I didn't know of this

I'd love to head out to one. Maybe once the school year starts up again and I'm back in Austin.

have you seen the track?

I'm heading up to Austin July 4th weekend, so I'm gonna go check the track out during one of the lapping days (most likely Friday) if you'd like to meet up there and check it out?

I'll be in San Antonio this weekend. The rest of my July is pretty full also. I was thinking about doing a class in August. I have not seen the track personally but from what I have seen online it looks awesome. If you go check it out let us know what you think.

I might consider joining you on the 11th. The configuration looks great, it looks like it might be worth the drive up.

Have you actually seen the track in person yet? Is it pretty smooth, or will it be a problem with my car lowered. I'm not slammed, just moderately dropped IMO. Since they have garages I can raise it up a little if I have to, but I'd rather not have to deal with that PITA of raising it then lowering it back.

no i havent, i'm going up to austin this weekend - so if i have time i may cruise over there and see if i can see anything - doubtful though since they'll be closed. I'd assume you're fine, they have plenty of sports cars come through - the guy that built it used to drive the Ferrari 333s so he probably has some race cars he brings through there. Check out the youtube videos of it - that's the best I can say, but I'd assume it'll be OK lowered. Call them up and ask before you register.

i'll update if i get a chance to get over there

If it's a real race track, you shouldn't have a problem driving around no matter how low you are. They put cars with less than 1" of ground clearance on them on a regular basis.

Also since it's a fairly new track, it will probably be pretty smooth, as compared to TWS or MSR Houston's surface. They have no problems running Indy and Le Mans cars at those tracks, so your G won't be an issue.

Your drive up to Austin might be more of a problem. What with potholes, odd highway dips and all.

HA!

i didnt get a chance to head over to the track to see if I could get a look at it this weekend. but I did get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for 100 miles on I10..... made a drive from lake mcqueeney/sequin take 4+ hours

let me know if you guys are thinkin about heading up! I'm waiting on my new brake pads and tires in the mail.... they better get here or I'm screwed

Don't bother with I-10. Go south down to 90 and take it across. You'll at least get a chance for some more fun roads while you're driving. And they're at least moving.

Got works and other stuff that has loomed it's ugly head onto the horizon for this weekend Ajay. I won't be able to join you. Please post back here and report on how the experience was.

yeah I kept thinking about it. I've never had a problem with I10 - but when aggies in their gigantor trucks starting exiting the highway via ditch and gulley 90 miles out of town I realized I was screwed haha

I'll check it out on the map and see if I can find a good route, i'll probably just stick with 10 tho since its shorter and usually fine with traffic

dang, well i'll be the first then to check it out! Just put on 2 new Dunlops and new front pads, hopefully they'll all get fully broken in on the drive to Austin

The event at driveway was good, not as much track time as I would've hoped but the instructors and the main guy are great. There's a lot of classroom type stuff that seemed a little pedestrian at times but overall a great event. I can't wait to go back to do the practice sessions.

I'll try and upload videos later - they're more than 10 minutes and i have no editing software for youtube so i'll try and figure it out...
