Just moved to Houston: Auto insurance- WTF!!!!

Why in the HELL is auto insurance so expensive here? Anyone have a company they prefer which will lessen the rape?

FL: $580 for 6 months- full coverage
Houston: $830 for 6 months- full coverage

That's what the lady from Nationwide said too, I have no idea why it's so much more expensive. I think what's killing me is the collision on the G, was about $400 a year in FL, is about $800 a year here. I'll PM you.

Texas is considered a higher risk state so the insurance is higher. When I used to live in NC my insurance was about $30 a month, really cheap!

Well as I mention before. Florida is higher than Texas in most parts. I will have to look at your driving record & coverages to give you some options to reduce your premium.

Do you have any accidents or tickets on your record?

You guys are still ok lol .... Insurance down here is ridicoulous.... For me , 20 years old no accident full coverage for the year i'm paying around 6800 a year.... With the dollar so close to parity compare your insurance to around 6600 US for the year LOL .... When i was 17 first checked insurance for the 04 g35 coupe when i first got mine for full coverage on my name it was around a little over $16,000 for the year.... I had to get it under my dads name and had to be the occasional driver and still was paying around 2900 a year on my dads name and about 1700 for myself occasional driver so around 4600 a year... When i sold the 04 coupe and bought the 03 coupe i took on full coverage...

This is with me having no tickets or accidents / claims ( knock on wood ) ...

If we ever were to see prices like that down here in Canada it would be a blessing.

How is that even possible. Your premium is the same as a car payment. Where are you from
?

That amount is outrageous lol. I'm still under my parents insurance(who are in Florida) while I live here in Texas. Per year it comes out to 1300, WTF!!! And I've been driving for almost four years and never been in an accident or even pulled over for that matter.

I'm from toronto, ontario Canada ... Insurance is crazy down here... On top of that its going up in january because of some new changes they made...

See for yourself just get a online quote from one of the canadian insurance company's and just check according to "if you were living in canada and in toronto, ontario" ...

This will not work! Under-writing will get the DMV and all tickets & accidents will be transfered. So you will be surcharged for those violations, fi you go with a major insurance company. If you sign up with a smaller insurance company, then they dont look at accidents or tickets.....
