Help wanted from the Houston crew
Hey Members,
I am a long long time lurker Since 06 when i first wanted a g35 coupe really bad in college. Few years went by, I got married and had a Kid along with relocating to the Dallas area. I am now looking at a G35 Sedan in 6 speed manual. This will be my daily driver since I got rid of the 6spd crossfire upon the birth of my son.
I need your help in checking out a vehicle that i am interested in purchasing that is located in Houston so that i can stop lurking and be active member. I am trying to make plans to see it but it would be a week before i can get there. I can put a deposit to secure it but would hate to do that sight unseen.
The carfax and autocheck is clean and it was a high mileage vehicle. I am guessing it was used for business since it was listed commercial like a traveling sales person. They put 24k miles per year on it and was used in Texas and Louisiana. I am aware of issues with oil consumption on Rev up motors and was hoping the transmission would be the revised cd009.
If someone is willing to go check out the car for me and test drive it i would hook you up with some money via paypal to buy a nice boston market meal (that's what I had for lunch $10) and give you a free copy of Borderlands GOTY edition for Steam.
I hope to find a long time member that knows the common issue and can get a good look at the car and check it mechanical and the transmission grinding or clutch issues.

^^ Unfortunately, I'll be out of town this weekend.
I honestly would really like to help you, since I've similar things for forum members in the past. I get back on Monday evening, so if you still haven't had someone do it yet by then, send me a PM and I'll head out there with a few friends and take a look at it for you.

Thanks man i would really appreciate that and already received the funds and the go ahead from Wifey. I would rather wait till you come in town since you are a current owner and your friends and they would know what to look for in a used g35. I would love to buy the car and go out to dinner/drinks and have a meet in houston. I will contact you via PM and i am doing my best to get down there this Sunday to inspect it but i am in no hurry as i have 2 months to buy a car but don't want to let a good deal slip away.
By the way i also have a copy of Left 4 dead 2 for Steam if you guys would prefer that over Borderlands GOTY edition.
thanks

Sorry to hear about your disappointment.
Just a question of curiosity, but how are you coming to find these vehicles?
Also, what is your budget and stuff like that? Are you hell bent on a Sedan? Ever considered a Coupe? Mileage you're looking at... what year of car?

I found another vehicle i am interested in that i will be looking at in VW archer. My requirements are Sedan since I have a 1 yr old baby and a car seat. I would love Manual since i really miss it and enjoyed driving the manual. I am sure I can get use the to the high engagement and the quirks just to have the fun of a 6 spd. I have been looking at automatics as well but feel like I should go with my heart on the 6 spd.

I have a pretty tight budget and originally was looking at $11k-$12k and have decided to go to $13k-$14k and get something lower mileage and reliable. I am in no hurry what so ever and have 2 months time. I have found couple 6mt with 60k-80k miles for $13k. I would like late model 05 or 06 to ensure i get the cd009 transmission and the updated dashboard style.

Understood, I haven't seen a lot of 6-speed Sedans for sale though, but I'll be on the look out.
Oh, and I did get your PM btw, but I'm on my phone right now and the mobile version of G35driver doesn't really allow for a whole lot of easy access to my PM box. Plus it takes me forever to type something out on my phone.
