I need to get the clutch replaced on my 2008 G35S sedan. I've seen a few threads suggesting where to buy the parts (either clutch, or clutch + flywheel combo). Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Austin area to do the work?
Eagle Transmission wants about $2500 for the job (parts and labor). Since I simply don't have it, and this is our only car, I need to find an alternative.
History, for anyone interested: Bought the car with 69,000 miles on it, now at 82,0000 and the clutch is slipping. We are fairly gentle on the clutch, so surprised it went out so quickly, but I have no idea how the prior owner(s) drove it.
Have an '04 Acura and the clutch went out on it at over 140,000 miles.

I went to eagle to get a quote and they were expensive as well. I have been using a place right off of 183 and burnet called friendly car care. Local family owned shop. I just had my whole transmission replaced there for $450. I bought the transmission myself though so the price was labor only.

I dont' know why I keep hearing quotes for clutch for our cars as being $2000+. Other cars its around $1000. Is there a reason for this besides being a luxury marque?
Looking at the diy for z370, it doesn't seem like anything that a shop would charge 12+ hours for like the quotes suggest.

Thank you for that! I asked Eagle and they indicated that they would not do labor only due to Texas state law requiring that they warranty the work. I've heard they do good work, but even if labor only, I suspect they might be out of our price range.Originally Posted by Nismo G

Should I get the place to check if the flywheel is bad, or just order the whole combo kit (looks to be about $775 on Import Pars Pro) with the flywheel?
Thanks also to the moderator who moved my post where it really should have gone in the first place!

If your replacing your clutch you should also replace your flywheel.Originally Posted by daxamundo

I just ordered the JWT HD clutch + flywheel combo. I also got an estimate from Friendly Car Care for the work (about $480). A friend at work also recommended Juke Automotive and they quoted me about the same price for labor-only. Thanks again for the help!
