airbag class action suit?
In August 2010 I had an appointment with Infiniti to complete the OPEN P0339 G35 SAB Connector ITP 10-034 recall. The day before my appointment I was involved in a accident hitting a deer on the front right passenger side. The airbags did NOT deploy in the accident. The vehicle may not have deployed the airbag, or a sensor malfunction could have happened during the accident due to the airbag system not be correctly installed and still in need of the recall. The vehicle was repaired and returned with nothing done to the airbag system by my insurance company. I then made another appointment with Infiniti to complete the recall. The recall was completed on 11/19/2010.
After this recall I have had my airbag light come on, every time it has rained. I had been resetting the light by the key-lock position. It would go off, and stay off until it rained again. Once it rained again, the light would turn back on. I had another appointment on 2/2/2011 for service. However that day was the Chicago Blizzard and I was unable to drive the vehicle 95 miles up to Infiniti for the appointment and most places were closed due to the treacherous conditions.
My next appointment was scheduled for 3/3/2011 instead. On 3/4/11 Infiniti diagnosed the Passenger Side Airbag and Module as faulty and needing replacement. Total cost was $785 discounted to $704.00. I picked it up on 3/9/2011. On 3/19/2011 the airbag light came on AGAIN! I dropped the car back off to Infiniti the same day driving 95 miles one way and 95 miles back to drop it off. On 3/21/2011 they have now diagnosed the Driver's Side Airbag as the fault.
Ever since I have had this recall completed on this vehicle I have had problems with the airbag system in this car. I cannot accept that BOTH front airbags and modules just so happened to become faulty for no reason on a 2004 Infiniti that have NEVER been deployed. I've contacted Consumer Affairs to have them deny my claim over and over again. Infiniti Corporate has been extremely rude and unwilling to stand behind the product they manufactured. I'm about 7K miles our of extended warranty so no help there either.
I need help having this problem taken care of. I cannot drive my family around in a car with a faulty airbag system and risk killing us in accident due to Infiniti’s neglect to stand behind the parts they’ve manufactured because my airbags may not deploy. My insurance has also reviewed this and claim it is not accident related. I'm looking to start a class action suit? Is there anyone else out there with the same problem?

Air bags are deployed when a certain rate of decelerations occurs, not by damage. Striking a deer likely wouldn't cause deceleration that would activate the air bags. If the airbag should have deployed but didn't, you likely would have seen an air bag light come on then.
I'd say the dealer screwed something up when doing the recall. That is no where near "class action" standards. Was an entire CLASS of people (all G35 drivers) effected?

I cant seem to find much information regarding the recall you have mentioned. What was the recall for and what did Infiniti repair?
I have to agree with Mass. Your car is having problems but it's out of warranty. You're going to be responsible for those repairs. There are no grounds for a class action, unless you can find a large percentage of Infiniti owners having these same problems and not getting assistance from Infiniti. I don't think this is a very common problem.
You need to determine if the repairs have anything in common with the airbag problems you are having. You may be able to get this stuff repaired under the same insurance claim, if you can prove that the problems were created from the accident. Otherwise, you're going to be responsible for the repairs.
I saw that you have this question posted in a few other places around the web. I hope you get some assistance, but I'll be surprised if you get a much different answer.
Good luck.

I got a card in the mail that I may have a malfuction with my airbag system and to come in and have it checked. I am way out of warranty but it states there is no charge to have it checked and replaced if necc.
Now that you have had both changed I would give it some time and see if the issue arises again as maybe both were faulty . At this time I do not see a class action from this as it is not affecting anywhere near the amount of cars that I can see.

Having an airbag deploy in your face is no fun experience and they should only be going off in a life saving situation.
25mph into another car is not going to kill you... 35 probably won't either, but it certainly is getting closer to where you need to be for it to deploy.

If the airbag light is on AFTER the dealership did the recall, it is obvious that the dealer created this problem. LOTS of people have had problems with the air bag light after and before the recall.
The common fix is to reset the air bag lights. If that doesn't fix it, take it back.
To save yourself from future headaches, never buy another Infinti.
Another owner had his airbags deployed after hitting a pot hole. Yeah, we really need an air bag to pop up hitting a pot hole.... But hitting a deer or rear ending another car, nah, no need for it to deploy.

Airbag Issue
To clarify a little more. I did the recall ITP10-034. It's the SAB Connector Recall on the g35s. They basically take the connector's under both the driver and passenger side seats and extend them as when they made the car they made them too short. Thus resulting in the connectors being disconnected if something is under the seat and/or the seat is pushed too far back/forward to pull the connector. This was completed in November. There was a huge upcry over this last year. Now my problem I'm seeing is supposedly common in a lot of cars that have had the recall completed. I contacted a different dealership yesterday regarding my situation and they said that in the last week they've been notified at a training that this has become a common problem after the recall is completed. That the connector's STILL need some tweeking (disconnecting, moving back and forth and reconnecting to strip wires) otherwise the airbag light will come BACK on again as mine did. My dealership SWEARS up and down this is unrelated to the recall. My problem is that IF this is the case and ONLY the connectors needed tweeking instead of an entire airbag replacement then they just literally SCAMMED me out of the $. Infiniti Corporate is taking the dealership's word that this is unrelated. I'm sorry but you cannot tell me that I had NO problems prior to this recall, then as soon as it was completed I'm in need of BOTH front airbags. Not acceptable from a "luxury" car company. Especially considering my airbags have NOT deployed EVER. The reason I mentioned class action is because from what I've found there are quite a few other people out there that are having the same problems as I am. Just doesn't make sense. I've had better luck with a Ford Mustang with TWICE as many miles than I've had on this car. I thought by buying an Infiniti, and yes I did read up on reliability before purchasing, I would have a decent time with this car. So far there's been numerous repairs from the 2 airbags, seat heater switches, radio replacement, compression rods, blower motor on the heater, seat tracks, etc. It's unbelievable that a car could have SO many problems. I can't say I'd be willing to purchase another one after my experience with this one.

Unlike most members here, we're not blinded by the "brand". There are a lot of Brand ***** here who think that all the problems this car has is "normal".
Try resetting the air bag lights. A class action suit probably will never happened. Look what happened to the one for premature tire wear.
Nissan did something about it. Infinti, just brushed it under the carpet.

Not EVERYONE has had a lot of problems with their car lol.. i'm at 105k miles and I haven't had any major problems. The only problems I ran into was the dead actuator for the gas lid and the seat adjustment motor not working(which I fixed myself a bit later).
Nissian has a centralized authority for their business meaning that they go through an extensive chain of command before it reaches the exec CEO and that all decisions are made BY the CEO and no one else. Infiniti IS PART of the Nissian Motor Co.. in order for action to be taken there has to be either something major with numerous complaints or maybe someone will get lucky with their complaint and it won't lost in translation as it goes through the chain of command and all the way back to the CEO in Japan. So the same person made the decision to do something about it with Nissan, but probably never got the message for Infiniti.

the only thing the recall consists of is relocating the side airbag connector and putting gel epoxy on the backside of the terminals so they wont move any. its only making sure the connection is tight and secure. so even if the recall was done before the accident.....it wouldve had nothing to do with your airbags not deploying. you obviously didnt hit the crash sensor in the middle of the front, so your airbags didnt deploy. if you wanna see if your airbag system is faulty or not. take a hammer to that crash sensor while its plugged in and see what happens

Thank you for all the posts. I have to say, I told infiniti to shove the driver's side airbag where the side doesn't shine, and whatever they did to turn the light off, it has NOT come back on. I did NOT replace the driver's side airbag, and it's now been off for over 2 weeks without a single symptom. Whereas before it would come on every 3 days or so. I'm still waiting to see the little red dash light again. Thus leading me to believe again that this was a scam on the dealer's part. So, maybe it's not so much the car I have this huge issue with, it's the dealership, or shall I say Stealership as other's have noted. Obviously Infiniti dealers are good at trying to rip people off.

I have an identical problem. I rear ended another car at a slow speed. My airbag didnt go on. Only work done was replacing the bumper. Since then, my airbag light flashes. My uncle, who did the body work said the airbag sensor is faulty. I'm in on this class action lawsuit it u ever start it.
