First Dyno runs 571.9 HP and 603.9 TQ in 5th gear!

My G-ride is finally all coming together! Here are the numbers for my G after a day of tuning. The white line is @ 15 PSI and the red line is @ 19.5 PSI on 91 oct Arizona oxygenated crappy gas....Oh yeah, these runs were taken with the car in 5th gear....I guess 4th max'd the dyno!

Maybe one of you dyno experts can explain the significance of 5th gear vs 4th or 3rd that most people normally use. I guess for tuning, it doesn't make a lot of difference.

Woow, it's nice to hear that. But damn 19psi, you must have a built motor.

Where is AZ are you getting this done at? If you are in the Phx Area there are 101 pump gas stations you could visit to get a bit nicer fuel.

GTT, yeah, motor is built and sleeved. (8.5:1) Ran it for a year on stock internals @ 367 hp 345 TQ but wanted more!!!

Triji, UMS Tuning in Tempe is doing the work. Also, a correction on the HP, 15 psi was on 91 oct pump, 19 psi was on 109 unleaded.

gnut, here a few pics. I have a bunch of the motor build if you want to see them too. Thanks and I will.

Thanks! The double din piece w the gauges was a bitch. It took a couple of weeks to be fabricated. I'm happy with how it turned out though!

Yes that is ultra suede on the dash. I have seen it on a couple G's and had it on my Maxima. No issues with the airbag.

5th gear is a 1:1 gear ratio on the 6 speed...4th on the 5AT.

This is the big misconception.... It's 1:1 at the transmission, you still the 3.538 (3.357 AT) final drive ratio that divides the rotation... the 1:1 ratio at the transmision, from my research does relatively little to enhance efficiency of power transmission. The dynamometers measure the torque at the wheels or the axle, and divide that number, to put it simply, by the total gear ratio (transmission gear used and the final drive ratio). On the dynojets, the ratio is automatically calculated since they possess an inductive clamp that reads RPMs. On the dynpacks, the operator needs to enter the drive ratios into the dyno computer manually.

You dyno in a gear that will permit you a reasonable amount of time in each load site as you are going through the rpms, for tunign puposes, without overtorqueing the dynomometer. On the 2000 series dynapacks, my car, with approximately 400hp at hte time, needed to be dynoed in 4th gear, bnot 3rd. On the 4000 series, it can be dynoed in 2nd, since it has nearly twice the capacity.

BTW, twinsnails, nice numbers. I would try to iron out the blips on the dyno. Unless it's a drastic camtiming change at that spot, there is no reason why it shouldn't be very smooth, especially with a standalone timing management system. But nice dyno, very very nice.

Thanks and I'm glad you like it. Tony did a great job, didn't he!

My pleasure on the seats! I'm glad they worked out for you! I haven't even seen my g with the recaro's in it. How do they look?
