Reflash - can it do...?
Reflash - can it do...?
Can TS or others do a reflash that would raise the stall to like 3000-3200 RPM (for 5AT obviously) and improve the programming to improve MM shifting reaction - which I know has to do w/ the software/programming in the ECU related to the shifting.
Also, what ALL can be done besides AFR, rev limiter raise, and speed gov'r removal for under like $600 in a reflash?

for the stall.. the ecu wont do it for u.. u need a stall speed converter in ur transmission... for the MM reaction the ecu might help a lil but the a grounding kit such as gordee's 10-wire kit will probably help u out alot more... for the AFR apexi makes a controller but the reflash remaps ur fuel as well.. most other piggyback units for the G will allow you to customize ur fuel map ignition map etc... the reflash does rev limiter and the speed limiter... for the reflash its about 600 plus shipping directly from TS's site.. however i didnt want to get a flash cause u cant tune it yourself... any changes u want must be sent to get reflashed.. i went with Utech, wideband, and map selector.. search other options besides a reflash.. u might just be interested in something else.. i was in ur position not too long ago
How much is the speed converter, and is it customizable or what's the deal with that?

Stall speed is a function of the torque converter's physical characteristics and cannot be changed by programing. You wouldn't want a stall speed as high as you suggest anyway. OEM is about 1800 and upgrades are around 2400-2600.
Infiniti has a reflashfor the TCU (at least for the 2003 5AT) which improved shifting characteristics on my car. A grounding kit also helps.
Figure a seven hour labor charge to change out the torque converter. Here is one source for upgrraded TCs:

Below the stall rpm, a TC becomes very very inefficient..........little power transmitted so one must consider 45-60 mph cruising speed in 5th gear unless the car is used exclusively at WOT and drag racing.
A TC stall speed is matched to the torque input, when you raise the torque from supercharging or serious internal mods the TC stall speed goes up thanks to added torque at that rpm.
Changing torque negatively [cams, intake or runner redesign] can lower the WOT torque at these low rpms decreasing the stall speed.
