UTEC vs. F-CON IS

So I just bought a UTEC but was reading some info about the HKS F-CON is...I was wondering what the difference/pro-cons for these two units are..I belive the F-con has better resolution and can output video data to a remote screen if you want. If anyone has some input I would really appreciate it.

thanks

F-CON IS is not the same as the F-CON VPRO. Make sure you're not getting them confused. The IS is a replacement for the SZ which are both piggybacks, not replacements like the V-PRO.

If you're not able to get to an HKS authorized dealer who can tune it, I'd recommend staying with the UTEC as you will more easily find tuners who can help you with that.

Correct. The HKS FCon iS is NOT the stand alone HKS FCon VPro. It is HKS' piggyback emu. AD_LIB, you are correct also, the iS has much better resolution than the UTEC for more precise tuning. The video output capability is just an added bonus. Hopefully one of the fellas from GTM can chime in and tell us a little bit more. They are FAR more knowledgeable on this issue than I am but it didn't take much for Sam to convince me to go with the iS over the UTEC. This is not a knock on the UTEC either because the UTEC is awesome in it's own right. But I think if more people knew about the iS and there were more HKS authorized dealers around, it would be used a lot more.

It looks awesome, I am just concerned that I can;t tune it myself in a pinch. It looks like an awesome piece of hardware though, you can add on a wide band O2 sensor it looks like as well. I am gonna call up GTM and see if they can give me some more info...rancho is far to drive to from redondo

Does the IS take full control of Timing, Fuel and does it have Knock Sensor like the Utec? Or it control Fuel and timing like Emanage and only depend on what the ECU tell them? Resolution is great especially for high boost but for lower one below 10PSI I think Utec is more than enough.

AthenG I spoke with the folks at GTM about the F-CON IS, it doesn't have direct control over timing and fuel. It kinda like a souped up Safc but it has nice resolution and they said they have been able to get rock solid tunes for anything under 500whp. Also it does work like the old HKS CAMP system and displays data to an external screen with composite video input. It looks like a nice unit however it looks like it will run around 2k installed which seems like more than the UTEC. Anyway it looks like another good option.

Between the two the UTEC is a better deal. You can get an awesome tune on it with full control over timing and fuel. It can't touch the V-Pro but I would not spend the extra money on the IS.
