Going to the dyno for the first time tomorrow

Just wanted to check in with some of the guys that are regulars. Should we be doing pulls in 5th gear as it is a 1:1 ratio?

1: 3.794:1

2: 2.324:1

3: 1.624:1

4: 1.271:1

5: 1.000:1

6: 0.794:1

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It depends, mostly on if your car is a coupe or sedan. 5th is the desired gear, and will produce higher peak hp and tq. However, the sedan's speed limiter kicks in between 140 and 145mph, and on the revups, that's well before the fuel cut in 5th - meaning, that in a revup sedan, the speed limiter prevents a full pull in 5th gear.

So when I dyno my car, I do my first two pulls in 4th so I can measure the entire plot, and my last pull in 5th for peak numbers.
