I've been on the fence for this for awhile.
I dunno if its really worth the money and I'm not a fan of how it mounts and looks in the engine bay. Id get the hks over pulse plugs or okada coils though.
I'm still confused and what this really does and how it does it. Its basically multiplying the spark for a more complete burn?
Does this actually show power increase or just "smoother" powerband? What does that mean?
Is it safe to amplify spark ignition?
Does it drain battery power?

The average stock car sees about 5HP from this...with a tune, more is capable. The bottom line - anything spark related is made better, more stable and controllable. So timing, a/f tuning, throttle response...all of it.

Kinda informative... I'm still researching. Funny how we always consider and do the same mods at the same time (copy-catter ) Good thing you are MT – otherwise you would be doing VB & TC like my next mod

great thread link btw! Thx for posting it up.
Personally, I think I'm going to wait to do an ingition upgrade if/when I go F/I, and I'd probably opt for the okada coils if I do.

From my understanding, the coils are only producing spark based on the voltage they are given to begin with, and have the ability to put out more, reliably. All the HKS unit is doing is putting more through them, that they can handle. I've never heard of anyone burning out coils from one of these...I never did when I had mine.
anyone else? Actaully, the only time I have heard about it was before they came out with the vehicle specific harness.
