I think IF you have enough mods to really get the a/f ratios out of whack, you might stand a chance at getting some gains. But the AFC units cannot alter closed loop changes. The ecu seems to fight it because it's trying to meet it's own a/f target ratios. The only parameter you can really change is the wot where the ecu goes into open loop.

And you can't specifically alter any timing.

On most cars its "Open loop" not WOT where settings can be modified. Open loop usualy kicks in at 45% throttle, it does not take much. When you accelarate even slightly your usualy at open loop where AF ratios can be modified.

i have a vafc2 leftover from my maxima that i was going to use. due the fact that the afc uses intercept to the maf signal, the tuning will change due to the wideband o2 sensors. they provide feedback contrary to the intercepted signal so the tune will change. i am not sure what year the widebands began in the g35s. unless i find info contrary to this, i plan to sell it and put it towards the Cobb AP.

Gains depend on the amount of built in safety the software engineers put in to allow for aging and owner abuse.

Pre OBD2 they used 10-15% with OBD2 it runs around 5%.

local guy in town is running a neo on his 03 Z. mods include JWT pop charger, stillen exhaust, test pipes and it put out a dismal 237whp. It baselined at 218whp stock.

Ill have to see if i can grab a copy of the dyno sheet next time at the shop. In comparsion my O3 G35 put down 243 on the same dyno, just prior to the Z hitting the rollers.

I have one, but i can't really tell you true gains. I gained around 50whp and don't know how much torque. Before the tune something was way out of wack and the car was only putting down something like 190whp...after the tune the car put down 25o+whp and x torque, but not all of it was because of the AFC something else was seriously messed up.

I have looked at your 1/4mi times before AFC tune and after, you only gained .3 sec, that does not seem like 50whp gain to me, more like 10whp i think?

You haven't looked at my 1/4 times before and after the tune. The tune was done way way way before i even joined this forum...probably 1 1/2 years before i joined. My first 1/4 time that i had posted on here was with the afc as well.
