Getting a Tune Finally?
Hey guys, I'm about to complete my breather mods with my exhaust system coming in this week. After it's installed, I'll have:
Motordyne Copper Isothermal 5/16" Spacer
Stillen Intake + Stillen Z-Tube
Motordyne XYZ Pipe w/Straight Pipe
Megan Racing V2 Test Pipes
Top Speed Pro 1 Exhaust
Should I bother with any other mods before getting a tune? I'm not looking to go FI on this car I don't think. Everything else I have on the car is pretty much stock. Does anything else on my car need upgrading to handle the power made after my tune? I have an 04 5AT G35X nearing 80,000 miles.

seriously though why get a tune for nearly $1K or just over for less than a handful of HP or TQ?
Bolt on wise the VQ isn't very mod friendly. I'd save the $1K for some cams or other mods and let the tune wait until later on. the gains you'd get from it would be nominal at best.

your car is going to run like crap until you get a tune.
I had a cat-back and intake and it was fine.
But then I put on headers and a spacer, and I felt like I lost power, and my MPG went way down (150 miles on a tank). The I reflashed with Osiris, and felt a definite gain.
Plus if you get Osiris, you can have it e-tuned if (and when lol) you get more mods.

Look into Osiris. The tuning package comes with Cipher too, a very valuable datalogging tool. Do you have access to an AWD dyno?

The more data you send Uprev the better, especially dyno with A/F readings. I just received my first e-tune from them last week. I haven't had a chance to make it back to the dyno but I'm interested to see the stock vs. tuned (91 octane) numbers.

Well I had a stock 06 G35 Coupe 5AT make 210whp and 193wtq, added stillen intake ztube, stillen ss headers, stillen hfc's and stillen true dual cat back, also aps tall boy upper plenum and hks dli II ran that for about a year without a tune and was running way lean 14.7 AFR (got really good MPG though about 20-24MPG). Then got tuned by Intec Racing in Kent,WA with the osiris reflash made 253 whp and 241 wtq and running a much safer 13.7 AFR. Osiris to me is a freakin good program I highly recommend it, it offers several maps as well that you change through your cruise control.

I'm thinking about taking my car to GRDTuning, it's about a 3 hour drive from me. They're an official Osiris tuner, plus they have an AWD dyno. One thing I'm not sure about the multiple maps. If I want a map for 93 and 89 octane, do I need to leave/empty my tank then come back with 89 octane, or can they just tune for 89 octane based on my 93 numbers?
