Put my 5AT sedan on the dyno...weak sauce!

I more or less expected the results...probably because I find my car to be slower than normal.

I put down 206whp with 203wtrq STD on a dynojet ( Was 204 and 202 SAE but the operator printed it out in STD ). My mods are listed below. I ran a 15.0@92mph like this. I guess the 90K miles my car has didn't do well...or am I asking too much for a near stock car?

Were you on 87 or 91 octane gas?

03 has 260hp? no? the newer models might have better whp on the dyno because of the increase in power

there never was an increase in power from the 260 to 280, exact same engine, just numbers marketing. it's always had around 280 to the crank. your numbers look about right, when i got my car tunned at technosquare they said stock sedan's where puttin' down around 210whp/tq.

forget about the dyno numbers. dyno's are a tool for tuning and testing mod increases. diff dynos read diff numbers depending on calibration, model, brand, etc.

the number i'd be more concerned with in your case is the 1/4 mile number. do an air density correction to see what your car would run in std conditions at sea level because 14.9 is way slow. did you do multiple runs, and if so was this your best? was there launch issues such as wheelspin, axle tramp...you did turn off VDC right? that's very important for 1/4 runs.

VDC off, ZERO wheel spin ( couldn't get any even if I wanted to ) and nearly all runs ranged around 15.0. My car launches very weak compared to other cars I've i've owned ( which would smoke their tires with ease ).

I used a correction calculator and got a 14.7@93mph with it.

A buddy works at a speed shop. Said he had a G35 coupe come in with some mods and put down 170 rwHP. He asked me if that seemed a little low.

rated 280 to crank but only 206whp wow... something is wrong... i would say 240whp at least... and that's not even a g35x... i mean were is the car losing 74hp?

Mines rated at 260 not 280. Some people say they are the same as the coupe yet the coupe has a MUCH louder exhaust ( mine is so quiet it's hard to even tell it's on sometimes ) so I don't see how they could be identical. Even the 05-06's have louder exhausts as well ( which also happens to be when their ratings went to 280 instead of 260 ).

wow, are you for real??? is louder cuz it's a different exuast... duh! same engine, different exhaust, hence louder exhaust... come on man, this is getting embarassing.

coupe being 'louder' has nothing to do with them making more power. In fact, us sedans are lighter than the coupes and theoretically are a tad faster in the 1/4. I've seen dyno numbers posted anywhere from 210RWHP-230RWHP stock. Dyno numbers depend on alot of factors just like track times. IIRC, the 280HP bump in 05 was becuase of new SAE horsepower regulations.

Density altitude plays a huge part in ET times. You are trapping very low, should be 96-97 MPH with a 2.1-2.2 60' time. What were your 60's?

Oh my goodness...you are correct. I AM embarassing! It's just that I only have knowledge from the 500hp GTI 1.8T I built by myself 2 years ago and from the 450hp Grand Prix I also built myself 1 year ago...also the other 2 600hp cars I've built ( Audi TT and C6 Corvette ). I obviously have ZERO knowledge of what I'm talking about. I'm sorry if I actually thought a louder exhaust would = a better flowing one which sometimes ( just sometimes ) means better power from an engine.

If you have nothing relevant to add to this topic, please don't post.
