self tuning with orisis
guys, I,m not new to tuning(have tuned my c5 with hp tuners which is a very good tuner) but upon looking at the maps on fuel/ load at about 4000rpm(iirc) and up the ecm is calling for 11.9x a/f ratio (rich) which I know and have seen on a dyno bringing it up to 13.1 a/f ratio is an easy 8-12 hp increase. For those who have tuned themselves is it as simple as changing those load/rpm range to 13.xx? I have the cable, and about to start tuning myself(I enjoy doing it myself) and with these cars already having wide band o2 sensor this should be relatively easy. BTW maybe this hasnot been "hacked yet but on vets the ecm controls the transmission which means in vet world you can increase line pressure and have much much firmer shifts and on time. Is this possible or does the g35 pcm/ecm not control the transmission? Hopefully uprev or other tuners will chime in.

I've had the HP tuner software and now I have Osiris. HP Tuner is BY FAR a better tuning software than osiris is and costs half, osiris is the only thing we have for these cars though so it is what it is.
Anyways, you can't control the tranny with osiris because, unlike GM, nissan uses a separate tranny ecu which osiris can't control.
Osiris does have a few cool features that HP tuner doesn't have ( at least it didn't when I owned it ) which are live tuning ( a BIG plus ) and the ability to have 5 maps that are switchable via the cruise control buttons.
Regarding the A/F, the easy way to do it is just by changing your target A/F ratio ( something HP Tuner can do as well ) and adjust it with that. It's quick and easy.

ok Hmm a separate ecm....I believe if enough auto guys leave feed back with orisis they find it of value to them to look into this.Come on guys would'nt you like to have a much firmer and on time shift without getting a v.body upgrade that for practical purposes are not adjustable.i.e.shift too hard. ?thanks for the reply. btw they now have live tuning
The Transgo shift kit is a very good option. I've installed it on a few cars. Its very mild mannered in normal driving. Its not til you really get on it that the shifts are noticeable. Although, if you are idling at 1200 rpms during warm-up and go straight into D you'll get a nice jolt. Move it to R, idle drops to 800, then to D and its not much different from stock.
Also, I believe the TCU actually has an EEPROM that has to be erased before you can change anything anways...from info I've read in the FSM regarding the 5AT anyways.

going back about 7/8 years ago I bought a program for the c5 that was the only player out at that time, a few months later a new tuner came on the scene offering so much more and better(hptuner) and now the other company is obsolete.Eventual some one new will come along and develope this and history will repeat itself again and again. I'm very familiar with the v-body upgrade but I believe programming will solve most ppls. wants.
