15.4 1/2 quarter mile???????

Ok first off I live in Albuquerque NM. Last night I went down to the drags to see what I could pull in my A/T G coupe and the best time I could get was 15.4. So my question is this a normal time for a G in this elavation???? I have mods including HKS exhaust,NO Cats,Headers,Z tube w/ K&N,UR pulleys,Kinetix SSV and that's about it. I don't have a tune but was wondering if I were to get me that Osirus tune it would help me get to the 14 s in the Quarter mile. Thanks

What were your 60 foot times? Thats usually where the most improvements can be made.

I think the osiris tune would help bring all your mods together and improve your time.

Ill post my time slip now in a few got to take pics. I thought I would have gotten 14 s easy but I guess not. I also think that getting the Osirus tune will help me out quite a bit but have to save up some money for it.

Altitude my friend. Albuquerque NM is at 5,400'. That's an instant 1.1 seconds to your ET and about 6mph of taken out of your trap speed. Higher altitude = less oxygen = less power. This is why I'd never own a naturally aspirated car if I live somewhere greater than 2,000' in elevation. Turbo cars aren't remotely as effected (about 10 to 15% of that of an NA motor) because they develop their own atmosphere (turbo) and the thinner air allows the turbo to create more boost, compensating for the lack of oxygen.

I was trying to decipher the title - I'm thinking 15.4 in the 1/8 mile I guess the "1/2" was a typo...

Altitude sucks. Lots of guys at the track in Utah area were runing 15.7-16.0 stock. Its a killer.

FI is def. much better for a high-altitude

Yeah same problem here in vegas, bolt ons and full md exhaust, still 15.3 was my best. I have a 3.5 vlsd rear now for my 5at sedan. Gotta wait till next run to see how much it helped.

Yeah, altitude is definitely a killer. Assuming you were at Alberquerque Dragway on May 13th between 6-8pm your DA was over 7000 feet.

I love this site. I use it all the time when I am at the track.

I can see a time like this if you had a 6mt but an auto is so much easier at the track to drive. Mainly because the launch is way easier. But im by sea level so I guess thats where the powers at lol.

You're in Maryland. In the fall and winter, it's not uncommon for density altitude conditions to be sub sea level. That means an even denser air charge and free power. There's good reason why nearly all the cars that run unnormal ET/MPHs reside in the NE during the fall and winter.
