Getting rid of the Injen CAI
Getting rid of the Injen CAI
I called uprev today and I had set up an appointment with them and was told to switch my Injen CAI back to my stock set up lol. He said the stillen intake was better (Z-tube with the stillen intake).
That makes me sad bc I thought the CAI would benefit with a tune somehow...
Any inputs?

They're mostly right except that the stock intake setup is the best overall setup for most any NA application. Aftermarket CAIs typically result in a reduction in power with these cars. Simply put, there isn't much power to be found with aftermarket intakes on these cars.
Weird though bc he said that the short rams are better for these cars than the CAI, for a NA build anyways.
I value their opinion bc he said that they get a lot of cars in, and dyno tune them and all and stated that they see what works and what does not work.
Why is it that the CAI dont benefit from anything? I mean all there is to the CAI is a longer tube with a high flowing filter place somewhere to get cooler air. While the short ram resembles stock but with a high flow filter?

Stated very well. So the Injen CAI is def. coming off. Funny thing was that I just got it a month ago. I did not like installing it -_-" freaking had to take off the bumper and such.. btw before i put on the stock box, should install the resonator on the box with it too?
Uprev is correct by stating that either replace your CAI with the stock box (you can leave "silencer" off) or get a Stillen intake. The Stillen intake is the best choice for a N/A set-up and will give you increased hp, especially with a tune.
We have done extensive testing on the shop 07 G and our sponsored 03 G UTCC and NASA race car and found that Stillen is the best performing intake buy far.

With a z-tube and K&N it's close but the Stillen Intake uses a velocity cone and has a bigger filter area. If you have to buy a z-tube and K&N anyways, why not buy the Stillen kit that already comes with both. If you already have the z-tube, Stillen offers just the box and filter at a lower price.

If we are talking about a big gain then, sure Ill look into getting a stillin, but if not and its about the same as stock. Ill save my $200 and invest in something better.
