$600 Osiris tune: Good deal?

Hey guys,
I just called my local Nissan tuner and got a quote for an Osiris tune. The guy I talked to said the Osiris license was $300 and the tune another $300. From what I've heard from friends this is a pretty good deal, but I was curious as to what others have paid. I have a k&n drop in, motordyne 5/16, and Berk HFCs and I know what to expect, just wondering, is this a good deal?
Thanks

I predict 236whp

To me $600 seems high.... you can buy the full Tuner edition on here for $400ish. Then you have the Cable etc etc...

@ $600, you get a tune, but no cable, no nothing.

The cable just means I can see my own diagnostics etc. right? I wouldn't be able to use the Tuner or anything since I don't know enough to do it myself. The shop tunes for three maps controllable through the cruise control switches as part of the tune

If you get the cable then you still have to pay the tuner 300 right?

Yeah. The 300 was dyno time and their tuner changing things up

Sounds about right. I got tuned at UpRev's headquarters in Austin and the tune and 2 hours of dyno time came out to a little over $550. I won the Cipher cable at one of their raffles, saved me $200!

Tune is the "Best bang for your buck!" No where else can you pick up 25+whp along with almost that much torque for $600=. That's what SpecialtyZ charged me for my Osiris tune....Gary

The main benefit to owning the cable is that you can reflash back to stock later on and transfer the license to a new vehicle or sell it used. When you just get dyno tuned you're pretty much out that $600. You can also use it to check and clear codes, datalog, and reflash updates to the tune yourself so you don't have to go back to the shop if you ever need anything changed.

As long as you don't have an 03 we can tune it with datalogs over email, for an NA car with bolt-ons there really isn't that much difference between etuning and dyno tuning... except that you don't get that pretty dyno sheet.

Thanks for the replies I plan on keeping the car for at least two more years so I can live without the cable. I think I'll go ahead and get the tune and whatever I end up doing down the road I can figure out what to do then.

Clearing your fuel settings with the click of a button is worth it to me- identifying trouble codes... Troubleshooting. Dude- you want the cable.

Even getting a decent obdII cable is going to cost you some $$$- and you'll want one of those eventually. Nevermind the other benefits including being able to develop a sense of what is actually going on with your car through learning the software interface.

My only regret is not getting it first instead of last.

At a minimum its a great OBD2 scan tool, comes in real handy if you ever throw a code. Plus you can just have the tuner make adjustments to the rom and email it to you so you can reflash it instead of making an appointment ($$$) and driving all the way there for a simple reflash

Well ****, I am scheduled to get tuned this Saturday and the shop wants 300 for the license, and 475 for the dyno, and that only includes one map I believe.

Well think hard and make a simple choice here. The e-tune will show probably 1-2 less HP, and If you were pushing for HP you would boost. You can fake your dyno run by just using someone else's...

Yep that's through MAC. I thought it was steep but not too many choices for tuners here in Colorado. And I havent heard of the Mike High VQ club. But I am looking for some fellow VQ'ers. It gets kneading lonely when you don't know anyone who owns a G or Z around you.
