Hey guys,
I know the typical route is to tune through an uprev pro tuner, but I've already attempted to tune through the "best" uprev tuner in my area with horrible results. Immediately after the tune I noticed a severe drop in power. I was able to recover this lost power through the installation of a few breather mods, but now I'm worried about the quality of my tune. My mods are: all motordyne bolt ons, stillen CAI.
1. Would you guys suggest an aftermarket ECU? This way I could tune through many great tuners in my area
2. I've heard that our stock ECU will adjust to WOT situations as well as gently driving. Would an aftermarket ECU adjust based off of your driving style?
3. Would an aftermarket ECU affect the longevity of the motor?
Thanks

Where are you going to get this "aftermarket" ECU? unless you're referring to going with a full standalone EMS like a Haltech or Motec.
I would venture to bet that the problem lies with your tuner, not the tuning software.

I wasmt implying that the problem was with uprevs software. The issue I had was strictly with the pro tuner. The closest reputable uprev tuner is 1000km away and at 3000ft different altitude.
And yes im referring to a system like haltech, not a pigguback ecu.

I tune cars every day remotely with datalogs over email, getting physically strapped up to the dyno isn't the only way to get it done.
I wouldn't recommend going with a full standalone for a basic bolt on setup, you're going to be in it a ton of money (several thousand) by the time you're done, you'll still need the uprev reflash to control stuff like the rev and speed limits, DTC codes, and electronic throttle, also does the new tuner you're thinking of switching to have any experience with a G35?

Yeah, maybe going with a remote tune may be better. I was thinking a full stand alone might be a little overkill.
And no, I haven't heard anything specifically about them tuning Vq's.
Thanks

My car is tuned by seymore4 and i'm in Texas..can't even keep my tires from spinning now, extremely pleased. Definitely sounds like your issue is the tuner

I bought my osiris from Seymore last year..arrived in two days and tuned via datalogs to freakin perfection. Than i had an unrelated mechanical issue and he re tuned it again and my car is a blast to drive. Do yourself a favor have him do it.
I'm not too familiar with remote tuning. Would I need to send Seymore my ECU? Or would I have to purchase some sort of cable etc to gather data to send away to Seymore?
Thanks
Thanks

You just need to get your hands on an Uprev cable and then you can datalog and reflash the ECU yourself. Basically you just drive around and record datalogs of how the cars running, then we use that to adjust the tune, much like how its done on the dyno.
Since you've already been reflashed best bet would be to keep your eyes open for a used cipher cable in the classifieds ($150ish), The only ones you can get without an Osiris license new are the tuner cables. (Uprev quit selling the cipher cables new last year).
