Thumbs up G35x and Utech

To my fellow Xers and sedaners:

Just wanted to share with you my experience so far with the TurboXS Utech. The Utech is an engine management sytem that piggybacks on to your ECU. For more info check out these threads:

https://g35driver.com/forums/tuner-dyno/72004-utec-turbo-xs.html

https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-forced-induction/77376-utec-review-explained-aam.html

Wednesday I had the Utech installed down at Altered Atmosphere Motorsports in Gaithersburg, MD (thanks to Dave, Mike and the team). I've been driving with the Utech now for a couple of days and my X is running fine! I made the trip back up I95 Wednesday night with no problems at all. AWD seems to be fine - I checked it out yesterday with the snow button and the throttle pulls back like it normally does. Driving impressions - no big difference yet but I didn't have it tuned because I'm going FI very soon

Many of us Xers know that when it comes to tuning your engine, there is nothing out there. Well, TurboXS has delivered. I'll keep you all posted but things are looking great...there's a Vortech in my near future... This also suggests to me that the ECU for the G35x, G35, and 350z are very similar at least for the '04s. More to come.

P.S. - AAM has an AWD dyno

Happy New Year!

Paul

Paul, Happy New Year to you and congratulation on Utec.

Does AAM have Utec brackets for G? I hope that they checked your A/F at WOT, that base MAF map need some changes.

Recently, I postponed Utec purchase for ’04.5 MT coupe because dyno showed me no gains while my little lean A/F at WOT have been corrected without problem. Probably with more/better tuning some gains can be made. I however am planning to stay NA for another year.

dovla - We ran some baseline dyno pulls and my A/F is fine I'm actually running rich eventhough I have a Crawford v5 and Stillen Catback. AAM buttoned up the UTEC nicely. It hangs a little low so I had them cut the lower plastic panel (I have hyperLEDs mounted that I wanted to keep).

SixFive - Thanks man. I'm going with the Vortech SC with a 9 psi pulley. I'm also adding 440cc injectors,a return fuel system and other goodies. I'm dropping the car off there next Saturday. This is gonna be fun
