I've moved a lot of music from my iTunes folder right onto the CF card. When I browse the CF card a lot of the songs have an extra copy of the song titled with a period and then underscore and then the file name. These extra songs have zero length. This screw me up with the 512 song max, as well as makes for bad shuffle play.

When I look at the card's contents on both a Mac and PC I do not see these files so I cannot delete them.

Anyone know what to do?

 

I figured it out. If you go to Show Hidden Files on a PC they show up and can be deleted. Interesting when I show hidden files on the Mac they do not. Maybe it's a resource fork issue.

I do see the .ds_store files. They aren't the problem because they do not show up in the car. the ._song.mp3 is a problem since the car sees it as a song (albeit a very short one) so it shuffles through it and it counts towards the 512 limt.

Interesting if I move a whole album's folder onto the card the ._song.mp3 files show up, but if I create a folder on the card and then move songs into it they do not.

I'd love to see and delete the ._song.mp3 files on my mac. I had to bring the CF cards into the office this morning and load them up on my PC.

What I'd really love is a freeware (or cheap shareware) program that managed putting songs on and off of a CF card on the mac using my iTunes library. This way I could make changes easily.
