Okay, Yet Another iPod Question

I've searched the forums, but most posts dealing with iPod integration are those with G35s that are older than '07. I've got a couple of questions I hope y'all kind help me out with!

I've got a 2007 G35 with Navigationa and XM. I know we can play an iPod throught the RCA jacks located in the center console, but I'm looking for something more iPod specific. I'd like to keep my XM, is there an iPod adapter built for our cars, those with Nav and XM?? I'd like to be able to control the iPod via the stereo controls or Nav screen.

Thanks in advance!

The 08 G37/G35 iPod integration is among the best I've seen from an auto mfg. Here's a video posted by bostonmerlin showing how it navigates through the various iPod menus using the large ****:

Wow, that's amazing integration! I hope that the dealer will be able to install that as an option on my '07 sedan.

Has anyone been able to confirm that will be possible to install the adapter and have it retro-fit an '07?

Yeah I'd be interested in that upgrade/retrofit. I bought a Video Ipod yesterday and was pretty underwhelmed at using it in the car. The AV jacks are great for music, very clear. But I don't get any video whatsoever.

Does anyone else get video via Ipod or are my cables screwed up?

Touch Screen

I thought I read that the ipod integration on the G37 involved touch screen functionality.

The video clip only showed the dial as the driver of the ipod's menu . Did I miss something?

You should also be able to use the touch screen...while I havent tried it personally, almost any feature in my current 07 where you can use the dial can also be done via touch-screen.

I like how in the video, you can browse other songs on the ipod without the system actually start playing every song you scroll through, which is annoying on the current 07s. I wonder if they made the change only for the ipod or for all music sources.

Am I missing something to have my 07 control my Ipod with the wheel/screen? I looked through the AV section but it's so varied between model years I didn't find what I was looking for.

Right now I have it hooked up via the red/white/yellow AV cables and all I get is audio and still have to control the Ipod via the Ipod buttons.

Another great thing is, according to bostonmerlin, unlike the nav, you get full access to all iPod controls while the car is in motion.

Good call, I'll check the video settings on the Ipod, maybe I need to change something. And yeah, parking brake set.

No I was reading through the AV section and there was a Nissan part that some folks had (in non G37 models) that was Ipod specific. I guess it didn't allow for full integration, just more of a "line-in".

It was more than a "line-in", though not as cool as what the '08's can do

you can buy 3 factory nissan/infiniti parts( 2 harnesses and an ipod module) that give you ipod throught the factory controls. it is a part that was originally made just for the nissans but it works on most infiniti's. i have an 07 sedan with xm and it works. kinda wierd to get used to the controls but after a few days no big deal. no steering wheel function except vol. You use the seek up and down as the up and down button functions and the tune **** as the enter button. You get almost all info on screen , only issue is you need to extend ipod cord unless you wanna leave it in trunk Also you need to unplug ipod the get xm music since the ipod inteface interupts the xm. If you are going to extend ipod cable then my suggestion is to do as i did and put a switch on the yellow wire in the cable, then you just have to flip the switch to go from xm to ipod. dont have part numbers at home will get them from work tomorrow and post them. this is the best solution i have found the the ipod issue for the 07 sedan.

hope this helps
