iphone audio

Hello all. I have an iphone and tried to use the ipod feature by connecting the iphone with an AV cable (purchased from Radio Shack) to the aux. connection. However, I was unable to get any sound. Do I have to purchase the AV cables from Apple to use the iphone with the car's audio system? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You shouldn't need to buy the cables from apple, you just need a standard stereo mini to stereo rca y cable.

^ Yeah, cables shouldn't make a difference.

Make sure you set your car to Aux. Not sure about the iPhone though - my iPod works fine.

Yeah, I did set the car to Aux and tried a couple of different cables but they didn't work. I should try to see if something else works. There might be an issue with the Aux connection????

Try the Belkin one. I bought these cheap ones online and the sound quality was awful compared to the Belkin. Apple really screwed up with this recessed headphone jack. I am glad they didn't do that with the iPod touch.

Are you aware that the Iphone uses a four conductor plug into the Iphone?
A typical stereo 1/8" mini has three conductors not four.
