Mike Valentine, the inventor of the Valentine One, talked about laser falses in this link below. He is known as "W8MM" over at the Porsche forum that he is a member of.

"The Trailblazer/Envoy thing is caused by neon in the CHMSL. It's a tough nut to crack. The ignition repetition rate is in the many kHz range, which is far outside the normal laser gun rate. However, there is a "squegging" of the neon plasma that occurs at a hundreds-per-second rate that fools the laser detection circuits, since these events repeat in the expected time range for police laser pulses. We're working on this (and have been for years), but there's nothing to report as yet.

A growing-bigger problem now seems to be laser assisted "Intelligent" cruise controls on Infinity FX35, FX45, and QX56 SUVs. What a PItA. They perfectly replicate laser speed-gun signals. We're working on that one, too!

The laser in the ICC is bad, but at least it's low to the ground. The high mounted stop lamp (third brake light) in some of these cars with the neon plasma is much more along the line of sight of radar detectors, so that's a much bigger problem.

Doesn't look like you can win... if you mount your RD low you get hit with laser from ICC - so far from Infiniti but I know Lexus and others are on the way. If you mount it high on the windshield, you have false positives from the third brake lights in some cars.

And trust me, people on the radar/laser detector community REALLY don't like Infiniti's ICC. I mean REALLY don't like it.

You should see some of the threads over at radardetector.net

Wow! You're right! I had to go see for myself.

It's all your cyber-life is worth to admit you have an Infiniti with ICC over there!

The laser in my G's ICC has not set off my own Escort 9500i yet. I put the 9500i in my A4, and drove my G behind the A4. The 9500i (while in the A4) wasn't triggered either.
