Navigation taking me out of the way

Hello,

I just purchased my first G35 (2007) over the weekend and have been playing with the navigation. I've been finding that it's taking me a LONG ways out of the way to get to places. IE coming home from the dealer it told me to take all side streets, when there were easy access freeways all around.

This morning it told me to drive from Hermosa Beach through Long beach and then get on the 405 south to Orange county. If I had followed it, it would have taken me over 1.5 hours to get to work instead of the 45 minutes.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is there an option somewhere that I'm missing? Thanks!

I can't say that I've had this issue before. Sorry I can't be of any help.

maybe you have it on a different setting, They have most use of highways, least use of highways, and shortest time in the options for navi

Check to see what your route conditions are set to.

have a second source

I use the Navigation in my G35, but I also use my portable Megellan at times with a map. My Megellan is more updated then the Infiniti Nav. And as always my map is always my best bet to find a house.

I have found that the GPS in my Infiniti often take me the long way, but it appears that this happens because it operates under the "theory" that bigger roads are faster. This doesn't take into account traffic conditions in my area. I haven't found a good fix for this, other than to put in a stop along the route that I know will force the GPS to take me the shorter way.
