Rear Audio Lower Than Front?

Rear Audio Lower Than Front?
Hey, is it just my car or does it seem like the front speakers are louder than the rear? I feel as if I can barely hear the rear in relation to the front speakers. A friend that was sitting in the rear while I was driving asked if I had the rear speakers turned down however in the front I could barely hear the front passenger speak over the music. I searched for threads on this and found nothing. Anyone else notice this?

Exactly! I got out of the car, got in the back seat, and had to put my hand on the sub to make sure it was on! The front sub kicks but the rear sub is lacking. WTF!?
Anyone know if the rear sub is the same size etc as the rear?

Well, technically most of your sound is supposed to come from the front. The rear speakers are supposed to act as fillers. Thats why you have a 3 piece component set in the front and just 2 speakers with a sub in the back. As for the rear deck sub its a free air subwoofer not intended to really shake up the car or anything like that. IF you want some real bass then you need to go with an enclousre in the trunk.

The articles about the studio on wheels brag about this. Sound is supposed to come from the front. Your ears are even designed this way.
Traditionally, car stereos are backwards in this aspect.
Even my base stereo in the G35 has most of the sound up front. (until I added a 10" sub). But sub placement doesn't matter since bass isn't directional. Which is why you can't really tell what direction the kids are coming from with the boom boom in their cars.
