I've had a number of different Windows phones, and I think some of them (like the T-Mobile Dash) are excellent, while others, like the Treo, are not so good with Bluetooth. I don't think you can say that it's the platform that makes the Bluetooth bad. Having said that, I agree with all of you that it's the phone in this case. When I first got my G, I had a Pantech P820, and people also said I sounded like I was in a cave. I now have the Dash, and I've had no complaints. My wife's razr also works perfectly. I tested at least 6 phones of various types in this car and half of them had bad quality despite being on the approved list.

Regards,
Tamir

When you're in a call turn down the volume a couple of notches and it should get better.

My Motorola Q, Samsung A900, and Palm Treo 755 sound great on bluetooth. Some people don't even believe that I'm talking from my car. Then again, I'm on Sprint, and they have great coverage here in the bay area

I have to agree with everyone else. My iPhone works great. Most folks don't know where I'm calling from. Bluetooth works great for me, better than any other BT device I've had actually.

I have a blackberry 8830 and it sucks on my bluetooth. I tried lowering the volume on the phone, on the car, everything and i still cant talk to anyone on the stupid thing. some people can understand what i am saying a little but i would never try to have longer than a 4 second convo on the thing. it sucks, but its prob just me and the OP

Its the phone. I went through 3 phones until I got one that worked. I tried out the HTC and I had that problem. I ended up getting the Palm 744p (Sprint) and the calls are much better. On all the other phones it sounded like I was in a well on my end and the other person could not here me. I know Sprint will let you return the phone if it does not work. Im sure the other carriers will also.

Honda Accord
Try to reflash your radio part of rom to a more current one or just try out a few different version.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, try visit www.xda-developer.com.
Good luck.

...are your windows down or is your sunroof open?

No one can even tell I'm on my Bluetooth (I have a krzr). The only time I get complaints are when I have my windows and/or sunroof open.

UPDATE: Found the problem by trying a different solution

Hey guys,

After a couple different things I tried, I worked with a buddy to upgrade the OS from Mobile 5 to Mobile 6 Professional. Along with that, it updated the bluetooth version...

And it made a WORLD of difference! I no longer sound like I'm in a cave, and the blue tooth is working great. Also, it's displaying more bar detail for signal strength (went from 3 bar display to 6) and I seem to get better signal in more areas.

Thanks again for all the advice, and if you're having issues, I'd try out this solution.

I have the same phone, 700wx, and am with the consensus here...the BT sucks. Do you have the detail on how you updated from windows mobile v5 to v6? Was it free? Details would help. I'm tired of terrible reception, no battery indicator and no signal indicator...
