Front Door Speaker specs/replacement options
I am a new owner of a 2008 G35S 6MT sedan with Prem & Nav. I would like to upgrade the stereo by installing a sub and front component speakers. I would use seperate amps for the sub and front speakers. The rear door speakers would be left stock with the stock amp.
I've found a lot of info by searching the forums, but I have not been able to find the available mounting depth in the front doors.
In particular I would like to know:
Q1 What the available depth is in the factory 10" location. And has anyone replaced their front door speakers with components?
Q2 How is the navigation voice signal routed? Is it included in the head unit front left/right output?
My plan would be to:
1. Remove the 10" woofer and replace it with a 6.5" speaker with custom mdf bracket
2. Replace the factory tweeter in the current location
3. Place the component crossover in the place that the midrange speaker is currently located (or somewhere else in the door if I cannot wedge it into that space.
4. Tap into the head-unit front left & right line out and send this signal to the aftermarket amps
5. Disconnect the Bose Amp output to the front door speakers (woofer and mid)
6. Disconnect the Bose Sub Amp
Thanks,
Mike
