Audio upgrades on 07+ Sedan

I'm purposely posting this here as opposed to the audio forum because I get the impression those of us interested in adding component speakers and subs to our sedan is quite rare. Hence figured I'd get more eyes in this forum than audio. That being said I want input from the very minute few that have added component speakers and subs to their 07+ sedan. Did you guys use a plain old LOC or something more sophisticated like Cleansweep?

Wow. Read my mind completely. Just joined the board a few days ago, but I've been searching the threads since then trying to figure out the best way to upgrade my audio.

Thanks, OP.

So I assume gone are the days of replacing the HU and starting from scratch?

If you guy have the Bose systems upgrades are more difficult since the speakers need to be 2 ohms. I'm pretty sure I read that in the audio forum. But you can still add more subwoofers.
I came across this article today from CA&E. They like the Bose system, and so do I.

Nice article - I agree with the writer, however, that my biggest issue is bass. It's worth mentioning that I'm not a basshead per se, but having been raised in a professional Jazz household (bassist), my ear is tuned for low freq, and it's weak in this car. I've never wanted a stronger sub before!

audio upgrade

i changed the tweets, mid and midwoofer in the front door but left the center and rear speakers connected to the bose amp. i also had a sub box built for the trunk and disconnected the bose subwoofer. i have a 3sixty instead of loc's for all of the speakers that i changed.

Thanks for the input. Thankfully I have the non BOSE system; So upgrading should be simplier.

Head unit replacement is not an option with us.

Not that it was a prerequisite for my purchase, but finding this out now ... oh well, at least it's got everything else going for it.

I went to an audio shop and got my car's wires ran for $90. Afterwards I got home and plugged in my subs, and they were ready.

What if we're not looking to put in a sub (only)?

What if I want to put some components/tweeters/mids + more audio power (wattage)?
Will I be able to add on an amp? Will the HU be able to handle everything?

That can be done. Here is my plan
Have head unit power rear speakers. Install 2 amps, components, and subwoofer. A cleansweep or something similar. Just need to find a reputable installer.

Keep me posted -- this is probably my most desired upgrade ... but until I figure out a foolproof, satisfactory setup, I'm going to procrastinate and suffer.

I changed absolutely everything and I never looked back. I've got a cleansweep handling my OEM integration. Feel free to send me a private message if you have specific questions.
