viper 5701 problems

Hi All,

I recently changed the battery in the viper 5701 alarm keypad. Now, everytime I arm, disarm or press any function, the keypad beeps twice then stops for a few seconds, then repeats this for a good minute or so. This sound is different from the error chirp the alarm sounds so Im not sure what the problem could be. Anyone experience a similar problem? Or can relate to as what the problem is?

thanks in advance

Thanks kool_yaar,

I just bought new batteries though so it shouldnt be the problem. The only thing I can think of is that i replaced the battery with a DL2032, in the manual it says to use 2 DL2016's for the 2 way remote. I guess Ill go buy the DL2016's and see if this is the problem, really stupid though

yup thats the exact problem i had, the 2 slim batteries provide twice as much power compared to the 1 thick battery, if it makes sense but lasts for a bit less.

Was the different batteries the problem? I have this problem but my 2-way remote is only 2 months old. Do the factory batteries come low on power?

It should solve the problem, I would for Eug96 to reply but i was okay after changing my batteries. (factory batteries lasted about ~2months, replaced engizers lasted ~3.5months with beep/sounds shut off)

I dont think that the batteries were low from factory, remember that this is a 2-way remote so it has more to do with sending AND receiving signals and then showing all those fancy leds with the sounds so it eats up the battery quite quickly.

I recommend turning off the unnecessary led blinking and beeps to save battery life, check your manual it shows you have to program your remote for maximum battery life with power save mode.

Hope it helps

Yes the diff batteries was the problem, there was also a recall on my 5701 so they upgraded me to the 5901 no charge. the 5901 now has a rechargeable key fob

Ahh okay... bro told me these batteries last for like a year or two..but I guess since it's a 2-way, it'd be "active" more of the time.
What kind of recall on your 5701? I'd like to get a 5901 like my bro has with that rechargeable stuff!

no idea, the key fob was acting up, they looked up the part number and said it needed to be replaced.
