Back Up Camera Mod Question

I can't be the first person to think of this, but I may be the first that can't find it through search.

Anyways...

When i put my car in reverse, the backup camera kicks in. Makes sense. Obviously, there is a switch or something tied to "going into reverse". Would there be a way to stick a bypass in there and connect it to a button, so that i could turn the camera on whenever I wanted in addition to it automatically going on?

Why would you need to turn it on unless you were backing up?

Just curious.

oh need is definitely not an issue. It's all about "want".

Just to see how close people are behind me (for instance...on a hill), see the road, whatever I want really...

Yeah is possible I have it connected on a switch, as well as automatically going on when in reverse. You need to wire a diode, is been covered digg a bit more.

With your radio/cd turned OFF, simply press and hold the settings button and simultaneously turn the volume **** about 40 clicks and you will get into the infiniti's diagnose/settings menu, then go through the options(i cant remember exact one as its been a while since i have done it) and you will see setting for camera once you enter that the camera turns on and you can see it while driving, NOT RECOMMENDED!!

I don't know about you guys but I would find it to be quite a destraction. I would find myself end up glacing at the screen while I am driving. Leading of course to me wrapping it up with a telephone pole.
