Need to recharge my car keys?

I got in the car today and there was a key symbol and the gas tank thingy. I'm assuming it means my key battery is going to run out soon so I was wondering how I can recharge it or if I have to replace it.

You are going to have to replace it. I don't know if you have the same key fob as I do. but at the bottom of the key fob if you take out the smaller key there's an indentation you stick a flat head or something like that in there and pry it open. Its a button battery easy to replace.

Alright cool. Do I have to go to the dealership or can I buy this at a place like China Mart or Radioshack?

Yup CR2032. Buy two and keep one in the glove compartment.

Hate to bring this back from the dead, but can't you just plug it into the manual start slot over by the hood open latch?

I stuck it in there when it was saying that the battery was running down and it charged it up for me.

That's not a charger. All it does is let you put the immobilizer chip in close proximity to a sensor when the fob doesn't have enough battery power to communicate remotely.
If you open your fob you'll find a CR2032 battery (not rechargeable).

Hmm...that's strange though. Because I can honestly say that after the car told me my key fob's battery was low, I plugged it in there for a few minutes and it hasn't bothered me about it in about 3 months.

They don't necessarily quit all of a sudden, they can act flakey for quite a while when the battery gets low.
Two minutes, a couple bucks and you're good for two or three years again.
