Navigation & Rear Camera

Has anyone ever bought a car that doesn't have NAV or the rear camera and installed it? I just can't seem to find the color combo i am looking for with the options that i want!

I would go for an alternate color as opposed to thinking about installing the nav and the backup camera.

Good evening all,

New to the forum, looking at buying an 2007 G35S with the money I got from my totaled 2005 FX.

It's got nav but no tech, and I REALLY want the rearview cam, as I've grown to appreciate it immensely from when I had it on my FX.

My buddy who's a tech at Infiniti told me that the chrome bit on the trunk, called the "trunk finisher," is a separate, removable piece, presumably replaceable with a finisher that has the camera built in. If one is able to acquire this piece at a discounted price, say from a salvage yard or something, how hard would it be to connect to the nav screen as compared to, say, the Boyo or other cameras people have installe don this forum?

You can install a BOYO license plate camera and a Garmin blackbox nav, but installing the factory camera/nav in a non-nav vehicle is a no-go.

Get the Tech Package!

I was having the same problem because I couldn't find an 07 Sedan that had all the packages I wanted - Sport, Nav, Premium, Tech. During my search, I talked to a Service guy at my local Infiniti dealer about adding a rear camera to a car without Tech. He said that if the cost of the parts didn't kill you, the labor would. At least in '07, he told me the screen on a car with Tech is 8" vs. only 7" if it has Nav and no Tech (perhaps this can be verified by someone that works for Infiniti??). Add to that the cost of the camera and the labor to put it all together, and he gave me a quote that was approaching $5,000 to do it! Needless to say, I decided to wait it out.

Finally found a good buy from a private owner that included everything I wanted. Of course, don't buy a color that you'll hate down the road, but get the packages you want.

Nope - Automatic. I drove stick in all the cars I had from '78 through '01 when I bought my '02 Acura TL Type-S when a stick wasn't available. It's been automatics since then for me! My desperation in not finding the packages I wanted almost drove me to a 6mt on the G35, but again, I waited it out.

The Automatic is wicked quick. If you got to drive both, is the MT any quicker?

Sorry for the off-post discussion!

I test drove 08 Autos and I've had loaner autos and I just didn't like the feel of it. Didn't respond like I would of wanted. And I'm not saying that about all autos. Some autos I like a lot.

Anyways, due to that fact, i probably wouldn't have gotten the G if I didn't come across the one I bought (good price, tons of options and stick). I do like the idea of rev matching on downshifting though for the paddles on the G.
