iPhone 3GS/G35/Scosche/ - and no Shuffle?

I have a 2008 G35, and iPhone 3Gs, and the Scosche adapter. It powers, it plays - but I can't get it to shuffle. There seems to be no way to get to that menu function. Anyone have any ideas on how to shuffle a playlist using this setup?

Which scosche adapter do you have? The passport or some other one? The adapter shouldnt have a role in how the songs are playing through your car, you can set the playback options for repeat or shuffle directly from the center stack buttons.

G35/shuffle

This one:

http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1667

When I used my iPod Nano 4G, it all works fine - center stack buttons.

When I use this adapter with my iPhone 3GS, it charges just fine and the center stack buttons work - but I can't get it to set to shuffle. I hit menu and nothing happens.

It's odd.

Hmmm, are you using the center stack buttons to cycle through the shuffle options on the G?

I never use my iPod - I have it sitting in the center console so everything I do to access it is through the Infiniti interface.

If you are using the iPhone to try to shuffle, see if you can use the button on the center stack radio to cycle through the options. They should offer: song shuffle, album shuffle, repeat all, etc.

Sorry if that's what you meant on your last post. You probably already know this. Just trying to help brainstorm. . .

I'm curious to see what the issue might be since I'm thinking it's time for an iPod upgrade and I know the Schosche adapter would have to be part of that upgrade.

Yes...

Yes...for my iPod it works exactly as you say. I also put it in the center console, access everything from the dash, and all is right in the world.

BUT - for my iPhone 3Gs using the scosche adapter, I can't access the shuffle options using the dash. I hit "Menu" and it bails and effectively goes back, not into the menu. I think. Unless I am doing something wrong. Do you have an iPhone 3Gs?

Oh yes, the phone works perfectly. And the G35 works perfectly with an iPod Nano. Just not with the 3gs iPhone.

i have a 2008 g35 and 3gs. have you tried the 'SCAN/RPT' button to the left of the 8 o'clock position on the dash clock. it cycles thru the various shuffle options. also on another note griffin has an adapter that is about half the size of the scosche. makes it a little easier to fit into console. my scosche was starting to develop a bad connection from the way i was putting my phone in there. hope this helps.

Aha. That was it. Of course - you don't control the shuffle from the normal set of iPod controls, you control it with a random other button that I've never used before. User error.

You are a god. Many thanks.

Sorry, I would have mentioned the same thing bought I thought, in reading one of the posts above, that you knew it was controlled from that dash button and not the iPod.
Mine works the same way, with the scan/rpt button. I have the Nissan module I put in my '07 myself.
Glad you got it figured out.

Glad it worked out for you! It took me a while to figure out the shuffle buttons on the dash as well. Sorry my earlier post didn't list the specific buttons - I couldn't remember which ones they were and I didn't want to give you bad info.

thanks for letting us know it worked out though - too many people ask for help and then never report if the help solved their problem. Enjoy your shuffled music

good call on the Griffin adapter. I'll have to look into that and see how it's working for people. My big concern with the Scosche adapter was the size.
