how the heck can i get this thing to run from my trunk to the drivers seat with such a short wire???

^Yep

Actually, you can probably find extensions that will plug into it in any audio store. If not, then splice.

^^Thanks for this idea. My trunk sub sounds a bit boomy and the headunit control doesn't allow much finetuning. But I don't care if the **** stays in the trunk since I'll probably leave it at a lower setting anyway.
