I know there are options, from spec.dock, pro clip and so forth. I do not want to go with the pro clip option because I do not want visible evidence of a mount save when it is being used. The spec.dock options based on the website are not designed for my ash tray and I would like to position the phone landscaped.

The phone almost works as-is resting within the ashtray while open, but obviously if you accelerate a little hard the phone falls forward.

I am looking for a solution that provides 2 grips for the phone from the inside of the ashtray lid but still allows the ashtray to close. Given the length of the iPhone 5, it is better to run the lighting usb cable from the cigarette lighter by the aux, av, and firewire connector inside the arm centre arm rest, instead of using the the lighter inside of the ashtray. Until 90 degree cables are produced that are not created by stripping apart docks it puts too much stress on the cable.

I am fine with a solution that involves drilling some holes into the inside of the ashtray lid, so long as it is not visible when the lid is closed.

If anyone has a solution thanks, otherwise I will let you know what I come up devise.
