audio gear install
hello,
i have a 2007 sedan with the non-bose speakers. i recently purchased four new door speakers, a sub and enclosure, a four channel and a one channel amp, a capacitor and an audio control LC6i and two amp wiring kit. the brand is alpine for everything and the speakers are 6.5"
i called my mechanic today to see if he would have time to do the install for me. he is concerned that my radio has an external amp and that he would have to bypass a lot of things. he's making seem like its a really a complicated process.
i just want to know if the wiring process is complicated or pretty straightforward for an experienced mechanic

From what i hear the non bose system is very straight forward
and from what you have it seems like you have everything, also props on that lc6i just picked one up myself.
The only thing i think you need to buy is the speaker adapters

I personally dont think a regular mechanic would be right for the job.
Take it to a local and reputable audio shop and they should be able to do it no problem.
or if you have a bit of audio experience I'm sure you could figure it out no problem! and its a great learning experience too. Wiring diagrams are very readily available on the forum.
I just hooked up the LC6i right before that god awful bose amp. all it takes is research and time and you can save yourself a pretty penny.
Let me know if you have anymore questions!
Also you have no need for a capacitor, you dont have to worry about hooking that up to your system. If you are looking for extra juice, it would be much more beneficial to wire a small battery in parallel close to your monoblock in the trunk. Another good upgrade would be a Big 3 in the engine bay which will also help keep voltage up and stabilize your voltage under heavy draw. The kinetik hc800 or 1200 battery comes to mind and it will provide exponentially tons more than a capacitor.

the funny thing is, my very last job in the air force was an avionics technician fixing instruments and flight controls on aircraft. so theoretically, i should be very good with electrical and such. but i have no patience or mechanical skill to try to undertake this install on my car
you might be right about a general mechanic not being right for the job. i wanted to bring my car to my mechanic cause he does great work and is a good guy, but he seems to be shying away from this project. i may just have to look into taking it to an audio install place

from what i understand the speaker adapters are basically required for 6.5 in the doors :/ but you could make them yourself!
Oh nice!! Yea i understand :/ i used to do SPL builds in my 8thgen civic but when i picked up the G I just absolutely did not want to have to rip things apart and rewire the whole car. It takes so many hours to finish everything not to mention the roadblacks that always happen when it comes to things like this.
Ah i see, well an audio shop is not a bad option! Where are you located?
im sure even someone on the forum would be willing to help you if you were looking to take adifferent route than an audio shop.

located in the orlando, fl area for the next two weeks before i make my move to seattle, wa. that's why i want these components installed so i could have an enjoyable drive
there actually is a very good audio shop close to where i stay called "audio excellence" but they're looking for $450-500 for everything. that's why i wanted to take it to my trusted mechanic

okay, so i scheduled an appointment for this coming sunday to have everything installed at best buy. had to prepaid $515 ahead of time because its going to be a long install. i just wanted to share a photo of the gear sitting and awaiting in my trunk. will post the finished product after everything is installed.
edit: i'll figure out a way to post the picture
