07+ coilover question........
07+ coilover question........
are the coilovers for the 03+ models the same as the ones for the 07+ models? I noticed that the H&R springs are the same part number for all model years so I was wondering if the coilvovers would work as well. Wouldn't make sense if the springs were the same, but shocks were changed.
Looking at the suspension of my 07 compared to my 04, the new one is completely different. There's a lot more aluminum in the front and rear suspensions compared to the 04. The subframes are changed too, so you may be able to use the springs but the shock assembly upper and lower mounts could be different so that part would need to be changed. Be careful with part #'s that include the 07 model year. I have seen a few that list 03-07 part numbers as being the same....even though they are not.
Well I wish someone would come out with springs at least that are 1.1 front and 1.0 rear. I think they H&Rs look great, but are a little to low for me being as that mine is an agressively driven daily driver. Here in the streets of Las Vegas it wouldn't do so well I imagine. Truly I would like a set of coilovers, but I would settle for a good set of coils.

I don't know how coil overs are installed and what hardware is re-used so hopefully someone here can comment.

Funny, you would think this would commonly know by now being as that car has already been out for 7 or 8 months. I guess not many people mod this particular model of car. Hell on the audi forums you would be able to know a question like this before the model hits show room floors. Mostly because there is somebody who lives in Germany and has in person an aftermarket tuner working on a car that is out in Europe, but not yet here in the states.

I don't think it is a lack of people interested in modding this part of the car but more a lack of people willing to spend the money and have it *not* work. I won't even try it until I know 100% that it will work because I'm not spending the money for no reason.
You would think it would be on the aftermarket tuners priority list to obtain a new one to test. I mean don't sales depend on this. Bad business management. Not to hard to obtain one if they offered free service and labor. Not bad to spend their cost of approx. $400 for a set of coilovers for R&D.

if anyone in San Diego has an 07 sedan, i'll take my Tein Basics off my car and try to put them on the 07 to see if they work. I'll do it for free just out of pure curiosity and to help out my fellow G members... that offer will always stand, shoot me a PM if you're interested.
