Tire pressure sensors in new rims??

Is everyone transfering their TPS sensors onto their aftermarket wheels?? I wonder if it is possible to turn off the TPS system.

You do not need to "turn off" the tire pressure monitoring system. If you do not have TPS's in your aftermarket rims, the system doesn't know the sensors aren't there. The sensors only send a signal to the system and light the warning light if a tire's pressure drops below a set pressure.

wrong, without the sensors, your system will turn on the light by itself. On older G's this occured after ~50miles of driving, on never ones it comes on right away

I had aftermarket rims on my 04 car for a year without the TPS's and the light NEVER came on. Before I put the rims on I checked with a friend that is an Infiniti service tech and he confirmed that the TPS's only send a signal if the pressure drops, otherwise they do not "communicate" with the car so the car doesn't know they aren't there. The later model years may be different.

just search on this site and you will find plenty of 04 owners who will confirm what I have stated above. Extended driving causes the light to go off. on the updated systems it comes on upon startup

I have 20" Zenettis in my car right now. The sensors couldn't be mounted on the new wheels because of the wheel construction. The TPMS warning shows up as soon as I start the car... it blinks for a little bit, then it's solid for the rest of the day.

I guess I just got lucky that I didn't have to deal with the warning light when I had the aftermarket rims on my 04.

You can get TPMS straps from HRE ao you can mount the TPMS into any wheel. that is how mine are mounted in my Volks
