Hi, posting for a buddy here. He owns the car, I'm the one that understands the technical details. He has an 2007 G35 Sedan with the Sport package, OEM 18's with staggered wheels.

He recently ordered a set of winter wheels/tires from Discount Tire. I believe the model (MBR) is the one in the link below. Offset is ET45 front & rear and I think the tire size is 245/45/18. He dropped it off at the dealer this weekend and they told him the rears are fine but the fronts don't fit. I haven't been able to confirm this myself. My guess without test mounting one is the caliper is probably getting in the way. Any idea why this would happen ? The FAQ says the OEM offset is ET45 so in theory it should fit just fine.

Someone mentioned it may rubbing because there are 9 inch wide wheels. Would something like an 18X7.5 ET38 fit better such as this ?

What are you guys with Sport package running for winter wheels ? Size + Width + Offset ?

 

did they take off the lil bolt in the rotor that keeps you from putting the rear wheels on the front

 

Agree on checking for the little bolt in the rotor first. that thing comes off very easily.

I think 18x9 +45 should fit. My 19x8.5 +50 M45 rims fit with no problems up front.

 

the sedans don't come with the extra bolt like the coupes do, so that's not your problem. I don't think it's the calipers hitting the center disk of the wheels either. It is very likely he's hitting the control arm with that high of an offset, wheel width and tires. He's gonna need spacers to clear it.

 

I thought the 07's sedans did have the bolt, haven't taken off my wheels yet, but i remember reading somewhere for those of us with the sport wheels

 

Can someone confirm this bolt thing and post a pic so I know what to look for ? My buddy is out of town for the week so I can't get at his car.

What wheel size/offset WILL fit in 18's on his Sport sedan with a 245/45/18 winter tire ? I want to know what to tell him ... to tell DT to send. I'm slighly suprised DT screwed this up, this can't be the first 07 G35 they've sold wheels for. Thanks for the input.

 

Chico the 2nd Gen Sedans with 18" do come with the locating pin on the front rotor. I copied this from the manual.
Tire rotation (18-inch tire models)
Tires cannot be rotated on this vehicle,
as front tires are a different size from
rear tires and the direction of the wheel
rotation is fixed for each tire.
A pin is on the front brake rotor to prevent
the rear wheels from being installed
in place of the front wheels. The
spare tire can be installed in place of
the front and rear wheels. When installing
the spare tire in the front wheel, the
hole in the spare tire wheel must be
aligned with the pin on the brake rotor.

What is required to remove this pin ? I wonder if the dealership goofed and forgot to do this ?

 

It just unscrews, I think you just need a 12mm socket or wrench to unscrew it.
It will be pretty obvious, there are the 5 wheel studs sticking out from the rotor and this one locating pin. I would think the place would notice it if this was the problem.

 

A bit off topic but 9" sounds a bit wide for winter wheels. You wan't narrower tires in the winter not wider. You might even try a 225/55-17's all around. You can pick up a set of stock 17" pretty cheaply. Bridgestone Winter tires in that size are about $100 each. For under $800 you can have a nice stock set of wheels and new winter tires.

Dammit, the stealer said I could not use 17" on the sport. But I see that you are right as there are after market options. (does Infiniti's 17" fit the G35S?)
