BBS RS-GT Wheels on 08' G35X Sport & Other Options...

I'm interested in using the wheel below on my new car and eventually lowering it with H&R springs. Wheel is 19x8 with a 43 offset, planning to use a 245/40 tire all around. According to Tire Rack this will work...my concern is any rubbing with the car lowered and adversely affecting the AWD system.

Does anyone have a similar setup? anyone see a problem with this? any comments/opinions on wheel quality/strength/weight? I've only heard good things about BBS wheels but these are almost $1K per and I want to be absolutely sure. Thanks in advance.

tire racks recommendation on sizes/offsets are usually on the more conservative side or, close to factory specs,

if you lower it, your offset will sink in a little, so a +33 will be more flush than +43

I agree with Wei that 19x8 +43 is too conservative. With 245-40-19 tires, it will not rub the shock/strut or the fender even if you slam the car 3" or more. However, because that's such a conservative size, when you lower your car, even if it's only about 1-1.5", the rims/tires will look too far sunken in.

I would also recommend at least an 8.5" wide rim for a 245 width tire to maximize the contact patch.

That said, BBS rims are some of the best made rims on the planet. In fact, out of all the various rims I've had, the BBS 3 piece RSII rims on my 240sx were the lightest AND strongest rims I've ever had - and I've owned rims from Enkei, BBS, Impul, SSR, Work, Borbet, and Axis (stay far away from Axis as they are cheap, low quality rims).

That said, $1K/rim is VERY expensive for 19x8 rims. If my budget was $4K to $5K for rims/tires, I'd either go custom w/ DPE, iForged or some other company to get the exact fitment I want, or I'd go with some less known JDM rims like:

(First rim is ugly. Scroll down and check out the Trafficster STR and STM limited edition)

Alex I think I replied to you on another forum, but if I didn't here is my answer.
I am running 8.5 x 18 PIAA wheels with 42mm offset. I have no drop and I like the way they are.
You will have no problem at all with your specs.
I ran 255/40/18 all around with no clearance problems and now I am running 245/45/18 tires front and back.

Your car looks good, I thought 18's would look too small with mesh wheels but you proved me wrong.

Would you happen to have another pic of your car? One that shows how the wheels sit with the fenders (how far they tuck in, if any).
Thanks

Other options

I'm contemplating a bit of a cheaper option...using the Rays forged 19's that came on the 07' G35 coupe. Even though the coupe has a staggered option, I can use the rears all around with the following specs: 8.5 wide, +33mm offset, weight 21 lbs, with a 245/40 tire. I'm assuming these wheels are hubcentric using the standard Nissan/Infiniti hub bore of 66.10 mm?

What do you guys think? any issues with lowering with H&R springs?

Thanks
I will have to look around more , I found this pic. It is with the 255/40 tires which were almost 3/4" shorter than my 245/45/18 tires I have on them now.
I hope it gives you an idea.

And this one is also a Journey model with Coupe wheels AND HR spring:

I guess they look quite good... It's just they kinda look small to me.

Funny, I actually like the stock look more vs H&R's... dropped the rims look too tucked in...possible to use spacers without affecting handling & ride quality?

yep, that's why before deciding on rims, need to decide to drop or not... rim offset selection will depend on the drop...

spacers should be fine,.. it's not like you're going to go on some crazy high speed track and long endurance contest... just don't buy those flimsy ebay ones, at least go with some hub centric versions...

The trouble when you drop the car is the excessive camber. Your tires start to wear excessively unless you put a camber kit in it.

This is the reason why my H&R springs are sitting in my garage collecting dust.. don't want to deal with camber wear for now, if im gonna lower my car this time i'm planning on doing it the right way not like how i did it on my hondas.. and plus the wheels do look too tucked in without spacers so i'll deal with the stock height for now

Any idea what kind of spacers to purchase and where?
