Need tire recommendations - G35S Sport MT
Hi all,
I just picked up my slightly used G35S Sport MT the other day, love the car.
It has performance tires on it. I live in Ohio and it's winter. I've already lost control of it once on what I thought was dry payment with temps in the 18 degree range. Yes I was testing it a bit that morning, but even given that I need a stickier tire.
I'm thinking about getting another set of 18" rims and putting some all-seasons on them, and keeping the stock rims for the summer months. Question - what all-seasons do you recommend? I really don't want to give up too much in terms of performance, but I've got to have something that's going to do better than what I have in the winter time.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I just put Goodyear Eagle FI All Season tires on my IS-350 and love them. They are quiet, give me very good dry and wet traction, should be good for 40,000 miles, and got them installed at Discount Tire for a little under $900.00.
I know I don't drive a G, but thought I would respond nontheless.

The reason you lost control of it is because the tires on your S are Summer tires and the compound is way too hard in 18 degree weather. You need a softer winter tire like a set of Blizzacks in order for your tires to stick to the road, summer tires are useless even if the road is dry.
Don't waste your money on all season tires that will only provide you with a marginal amount of grip in the cold tempurature.

+ the S is RWD u need all the traction you can get when is snowing out with only 2 drive tires. I would buy a good set of snows like the Blizzacks or w300s again in a heart beat.
townfair tire, w300s bought and installed for $816.
big smile on my face when i see a front wheel drive honda with all seasons stuck on the side of the road and i just drive on by.

i just re-read ur post.
i have not driven on the blizzacks, but i don't doubt they are a good tire.
i can speak for the w300s tho, as far as performance, they are very good in this department, they are V rated (150mph). i have never had them break loose in a good corner. they feel very similar to the stock potenzas.

These are the tires I'm looking to put on my G. Nearing the one year marker in April, and with already 19k miles on the ticker... I need a longer lasting tire.
How long have you had them? As for the pricing just under $900, do you know if the 'per tire cost' was higher/lower than Tire Racks? Typically Discount Tire will match, but I'm curious.
Thanks

I have had them about six weeks or 1,700 miles. My fronts are 225/40-18 @ $150.00 each. The rears are 255/40-18@ $204.00.
I have know idea how they handle in ice or snow, as I live in Texas and we have not had any winter weather to date.
I will add that these tires are rated very high for all season tires and I would purchase again.
Good luck
