Does swap to 19" require alignment without a drop?

:Flame Suit On:

I just put a set of 19" Forged G35 Coupe wheels on the sedan. It seems like most people are not fans of these rims, but I like them.

Front 245-40-19 rim Size 8" +30 os
Rear 255-40-19 rim size 8.5" +33 os

:/Flame Suit off:

Will moving up in rim size affect the alignment? The total diameter of rims/tires changed by -0.2" in the front.

I know it would look better with a drop, but I am not thinking it is in the budget right now. I like the rear gap, but the front's could use about 1" drop. Obviously if I do a drop that would require an alignment and possible camber kit.

I wouldn't think so. The alignment is done to the center of the hub. You didn't change any suspension geometry so I would say no. <- This is a guess.

^^ you would be correct in your assumption that you dont need any alignment because you aren't changing the suspension geometry.

so to confirm for the OP... NO, you do NOT need an alignment when swapping wheels.

I'm with you mbonus...I have always liked these wheels too thus why I put them on my car when I bought it. My only problem is that as soon as the G37s came out now I want them...

Yeah, I wanted a set of those too. But I found a deal that included new rubber that I couldn't pass up. Plus the G37 rims are not forged...whatever that means. I should have weighed them with tires while they were off, but I was too lazy.

@TheIvoryG - Did you drop your car with the 19"? Do you have any pics?

That looks really sweet! = Thanks for the pics. I notice on my car with the 19s, the wheels look flush with the fender, but on yours it looks like it tucked in a little with the drop. Did you have to use a camber kit to get the alignment back in spec?

They are definitely tucked because of the drop. No camber on rear, I am actually not getting bad wear, so am waiting to see if the fronts ever come out and getting them both at one time.

The tuck is killing me though...just loses any sort of aggressiveness.
