Brake Installation

I bought rotors and pads for my car and I was wondering how much shops usually charge to install them.. I was quoted for around $130 by a local shop..

-thanks

You should be able to do rotors and pads yourself...but $130 doesn't sound too bad of a price

^+1 the pads are super easy and with a little muscle the rotors are easy to change as well(4 bolts) the price is ok but i usually get it done for about $60 all around on my other cars, but i have known the the guy forever, otherwise he charges $100 all around.

+1 on DIY, it's really not hard at all. Just get some PB Blaster, some C-Clamps, and a good set of tools and you are set.

If you lived near me I would help you for free. Post where you live and maybe a local driver member would be willing to help.

I would try to do it myself but I have a baby to drive around and I've never done the brakes before so i'm scared that if i screw it up then it's not just my own life that i'm worried about.. so it's more a safety thing..

^^Good reason. It's an easy job but for your own piece of mind have a pro do it. Things change when you have kids huh? I have two of them.

I hear ya on the safety thing, but I really don't see anything going wrong by doing the install yourself...

I can see something going wrong...but that is only if rushed without directions. Somewhere here there is an online FSM. psedog.com/g35 is the site I think. Go there look/print the directions you need and just take your time. Do the right front and leave the left front as reference so if you don't know where something goes, you can look.

ugaexploder...your sig.."Contemplating Stillen HFC and Cat-Back..."....DO IT! haha, gotta love exhaust, and if not exhaust then atleast HFC

Uga... have you heard that last clip of the FI with HFCs... the one shot inside the cabin?
WTF... is it REALLY that loud inside the car?

I really wish I could hear these exhaust options in person. The vids tell us nothing.

I feel your pain. seems like no one in MA likes to mod car really...and the ones that are, are mostly civics and little ricers like that. Seen a few nice mustangs But nothing on our level.

Getting to some of the bolts to remove the caliper and get to the rotor is a pain in the ***. 130 is not bad at all especially if they are going to be bleeding the brake lines as well.
