New brakes after 3 months?....

I just received a notice from my local infiniti dealership that my brakes need to changed, now my G has 11,500 miles in 3.5 months. On my last oil change they recommended that my tires be rotated, but nothing was said about the brakes, and now they send this notice.

What is everyones take on this?, should the brakes be worn down the quickly

Thanks...

nope. my Z has just 30k miles on it and my brembos still got good depth of life left. stealership inspect your brake every single time u take it for an oil change. I really doubt you will need it now.

take it for an inspection to a diff shop.

Maybe they see you as an easy catch on such things.

Did you agree to tire rotation last time?

They tried to pull that one on me too. I call Bullshat on that. I ran mine till they had 25K and measured them. They had only lost 1mm! If you don't have any squeaking when the brakes are LIGHTLY applied, you don't have a problem. If you are worried, turn (Ha! I had the word cock here and the forum software did ****) the front wheels out and take a look, you should be able to see the pads without removing the wheels. They should be a little less than 1/2" of pad on the backings. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, take it to a shop you trust and have them check it out.

That's one thing that EVERYONE needs, a shop that you TRUST.

I had to change tires around 12k and I had to replace my brakes around 20k. All 4brakes were equally worn. How do you drive? It all depends how you drive.

I agree with others. Check it yourself or get somebody to ceck it for you to make sure they not screwing with you.

I just had to get my rear brakes replaced after two years and 30,000 miles. Front brakes are fine.

If you would of turn off the VDC more often you'd be ok still. Looks like you VDC or track days were taking more from the rear brake.

what are your daily driving habits? do you autocross or anyhting like that? 11.5k miles not much to need new front brakes, i get at least 20k out and maybe 45 on the rears from my previous cars. and i drive it decnt aggressive.

they call it the stealership for a reason, ive always serviced my own cars with a friend who is a mechani so i am lucky, have the shop you bring it to measure the thickness of the pad. should take no more then 15 mins all you need to do it take the wheel off

its just a tactic they use to pull in money to the dealership service dept.

i can bet you money that your brakes front and rear are at 90% life left.

your tires should be rotated(swapping sides) around 15k miles if your not hard on them.

Yeah, it's pretty much a scam.

I have 50k+ and my rears are starting to squeak. Mind you, I've done many many hard braking (I'm kinda wondering how my rears went out faster than fronts) but they do last a very long time.

They tried to sell me an alignment at 15K. Said my tires were showing uneven wear. This was after they fixed my front brakes under warranty.

I said that wasn't likely since I only had about 2,500 miles on the tires. (I run snows most of the year.) I think they were embarrassed.

This statement isn't accurate for 2007+ sedans, we commonly have brake squealing under light braking.

I can support the intent though, my brakes are at 23k of hard use, and there's still just under half of the pad left. Very unlikely you're ready by now - but, makes sense to check it yourself.

I've had some squealing on my sedan as well, usually when backing out of parking spaces. What gives?? I have just over 30K on my car, but a lot of that mileage was highway miles and not a ton of braking.
