TPMS & New Wheels?

Sorry for the new post, but I've gone through 13 pages of TPMS from the Search function, but still could not find a definitive answer.

I'm looking to buy new rims for my car and wanted to know what I need to do to get the TPMS to work correctly on the new setup? Will Les Schwab or Big O' Tires know how to take off the old ones from the OEM wheels and mount them onto the new aftermarkets, or are they not transferrable Also, how pricey is that to perform on top of mounting/balancing the new wheels?

Thanks in advance!

They can be removed from your stock wheels and transferred over to your new wheels. They do not need to go back to the same corner of the car.

An adapter may be needed depending on how the valve is oriented on the new wheel.

They look like this:

Check out

www.tpmssolution.com

They have brackets, stems, etc that will work with any wheel.

Thanks Terry for the picture as that always help out =) It's good to know that they are transferrable, and thank you coldcut for the helpful link. Looks like I may be getting new wheels soon once I get my bonus in the first of the year =)

One last question, if I do reinstall the senors will my TPMS light stay lit in the car? I can actually do without that feature, but if the light stays lit then it will drive me bunkers.

yep; the light will stay lit. I ended up just buying an new set for my new wheels. This way I just pop off the new ones come winter; replace with old ones mounted with snow tires; have the sensors re-done; then drive off into the sunset.

I recently installed Nismo A34 19's wheels- and the TPMS reset just fine after the installation. Just be sure to tell your mechanic about the location of the TPMS behind the valve stem inside the wheel... they must take the TPMS off prior to dismounting the tire, otherwise, the machine will break them off and you're sunk.

I also have a question. I'm about to put new wheels on and want to know if its just the warning light that will stay on or will there be some warning/blinking/annoying sound thing.... Because I dont mind the light since I drove my 350z with the check engine light on for a year(no O2's).

^ that's the problem with this sytem.
You have to $pay$ for remapping the sensors every time you swap summer/winter (2x /yr)
& it takes a trip to the dealer to do it.

Just a light.
It flashes for a few seconds then stays on solid... you get used to it.
Some people put a little window tint film on it.

Is there a special light or will it be that yellow hazard light that turns when you have an open door or something?
