NISMO RIMS.. Now need help with tires

Hello,

I just purchased a brand new set of NISMO A34 19s (19x8.5 all around) from another member on the forum this past week. Now I am looking for some decent tires which would give me the most for the $ I will be paying.. looking to pay somewhere around 700 or so.. even less if possible. Looking for some tires w/ good performance in dry/wet conditions, good treadlife, less road noise as much as possible.

1. What are some recommended tires around this price range?

2. What tire sizes are recommended for 19x8.5 all around? (Will be looking to lower soon)

3. Any input on experienced tires shops that have roadforce balancing in South OC (Irvine) area?

Any input/advice is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Tires generally excel at one or two things, or are mediocre in everything.

What are your priorities? Place these in order.

Dry performance
Wet performance
Noise levels
Comfort
Durability (tire life)

I would run 245/40/19 tires all round , they would be within 1%.
or
If you want to go bigger I would go with 255/40/19 tires all round, these would be within 1.3%.

I have tried both those widths on my 8.5 x 18 rims

I know it's tough to satisfy all my needs,
but I would say my priorities are as follows:

1. Dry/wet perf.
2. Treadlife
3. Noise level
4. Comfort

I was thinking 245/40.. seems to be the recommended size for 19x8.5.
but which did you like better 245s or 255s?

It's hard to compare since the 255s were a used set of Michelin PS2s which were a fantastic handling summer performance tire. The car handled like it was on rails. The 245s were a set of new Michelin PS All Season tires .
I do think I liked the feel of the 245 tire for all around driving.

Good Choice, 245/40X19 Michelins are the best size and tire for your sedan. G/L

I will be going with 245/40s all around since my rims are not staggered.

I am currently looking into YOKOHAMA S.DRIVE and KUMHO ECSTA LX PLATINUM. Anyone have any experiences w/ these?

I know you can't go wrong w/ the Michelins but they are definitely out of my price range. *sigh*

I've got Falken 452's on mine. Quite happy with overall performance and rides no rougher than the OEM set-up.

I'm talking about your accuracy of your speedometer Wes in relation to the height of your new tires with your OEM tires. When you go to the different size tires the tire diameters change as do the rolling circumferencewhich affects your speedo and if drastic enough can affect your vdc. I think it is good to keep them within 2 % or better.

I have a few conversion tables to calculate this, but here is my favourite one:
Tire Calculator

UPDATE:

I just purchased a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT (run flat tires) in 245/40-19.

They were a used set but have great amount of treadlife (75-80% tread)..
and had everything mounted, balanced, and installed for $450 out the door.

Good deal, NO?

That's doing pretty good considering 1 new non-run flat 240/40/19 Potenza will cost you b/w $280-300
