Replacement tire - Sumitomo HTR Z III

Took the plunge, in back at least, with 255/45/18s, $398 all in + tax + road hazard. I plan to put 235/50/18s on the front when they wear out. I did a price match with Discount Tire because they had earlier fixed my flat and had given me a loaner tire, (never heard of that before, it was a Falken) although I could have saved a couple of bucks going direct to NTB or getting them shipped from The Tire Rack.

This tire wasn't available when the '07S was spec'd out, but it was later tested against the Bridgestone and scored about as well or better on all sorts of measurements, and came in first overall. What I like about it is the performance potential with a treadwear rating of 300 vs. the OEMs 140. I don't expect double the life with this tire, but I expect to get more miles. It looks great (I guess you can't post a picture here without uploading it first, which I don't know how to do). The HTR Z III and RE050A tires are similar in design, having lots of rubber on the road separated by four circumferential channels that on the Sumitomo are wider than on the Bridgestones, yet not as wide as on the Falkens. Initial impressions are good - will tell more later.

I'd like to see a picture. Your new tire is a little taller than stock and I'd like to see how the fender gap looks with them. Just upload your picture to a photobucket account and then paste the link here and the picture will magically appear.
Here's the tread pattern for those who do not wish to search:

235/50 & 255/45 maintain the proper front to rear size ratios.
& are the best choice.

It's generally not recommended to use different tires front & rear.

To JP1080INC - a 265/45/18 would probably fit, but Tire Rack has [U]no[U] tires in that size, so you can be pretty sure that there isn't any.
InTgr8r is right, the tires I chose have the proper ratio front to back - they are about 0.3 inches taller - bald, they will be about the same size as stock.

I have these tires on my 19's in the rear for about 5k miles. So far so good. Road noise is the same as oem, and tire wear looks better than the OEM bridgestones I had around 5k miles.
