okay, sorry to not be clear, these are the summer tires not the all-season. I'm so unhappy with them, but maybe there's more to it, because this noise is outrageous. There's no steering wobble or vibrations at any speed as far as I can tell, could there be an alignment issue or something causing all this noise?

I'm also a Michelin fan, but I'm currently running Falken FK452's on my summer setup and I love em.

well I don't know what I should go for. I'm either going to get some Michelin SP2s or the F1 all-season I think, opinions on this?

I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my G35 and loved them! They are STICKY and has a treadwear rating of 500. I also had Michelins on my GSXR600 and it stuck to the road like glue without needing a break-in period.

your right on the noise thing. I purchased a pair of 17" rims and tires(winter tires that is) and they were much quieter than the 19" that i have on now. I dunno why. Its weird tho.

i suspect smaller rims provide a quieter ride because there's more rubber between the road and the wheel allowing for more sound deadening, just a hunch though.

^ OP, You are correct BTW.

IMO I believe the excessive noise you are experiencing is exactly from your tire of choice and the fact that you increased your wheel diameter. You went from 17's to 18's which by itself is going to add significant amount of noise and road feedback. In addition, you previously had Michelins which are probably one of the quietest, most comfortable, overall best performing tires available..

All in all, now you jumped up an inch in size of your wheel setup and degraded in tire choice.. so I guess the noise problem you are having can be expected with this current setup.

Definitely. Actually it isn't/wasn't my tire of choice. The dealership i bought it from got me new tires because the other ones were about bald and they just ordered some without my consent and wouldn't get anything else. It kind of sucks, but whatever. I'm just gunna order some of the Michelin PS2s and try to get some cash for my Goodyears, maybe even try to find some used Michelins. Have you guys ever had experience with used tires? I hear you can get great deals on tires with like 80-90 percent tread left, any opinions on that?

245's all around

I've got 245/45R18 tires at all four corners, mounted on G37 (nonsport) coupe wheels. I went with Falken Ze 912 tires. They are marginally quieter and have a smoother ride than the OEM Bridgestones. There are only 3-4000 miles on this combo, I'm happy with them so far.

Thanks man, I appreciate the input. I'm looking into buying some used tires right now but I don't know what kind of inventory they'll have. I called and verified that they have some 245/45/18s but they couldn't tell me the brands, said I'd have to come by and check them out. So i'll be on the lookout for anything described in this thread. Also, I looked at my tires and they ARE the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S All Season tires, not the summer ones like I thought, so I don't know why they're so damn loud.

Also, would any shop not be willing to put the 245s on the front wheels? Is it perfectly safe and okay to do that?

If you can find a reputable used tire shop, go that route. I went that route and cannot be happier w/ my decision due to the $$ that I saved for a quality set of tires.

I had my set of 245/40 19 RE050A Run Flat Tires mounted, balanced, installed for 450 out the door. Tires were practically brand new!!! If you can find the right size for the tire you are looking for, I highly recommend going w/ used tires especially if you on a budget.

thanks man! there's a reputable shop just 2 miles away from me that I've only heard great things about. I called and they said they have 245/45/18s in a couple different brands, all with about 70% tread left, all for $52.50 a piece mounted and balanced, pretty great deal, of course I don't know what tires they are specifically yet, but i'll go soon and have a look.

I'm riding on the Goodyear's that came with my G and have no complaints so far, but... I've got Goodyears on my truck that are out of round and have a horrible whine. My mom had to replace the Goodyears that came on a new Impala due to whining and vibration. The Goodyear's that came on my '99 Regal were quiet, performed well, and lasted a long time. So, it's been hit-or-miss with Goodyear's for me. However, I've never, ever had a bad Michelin tire. This includes my past Accord, Regal, and Cougar.

Unless I can somehow discipline myself from breaking the rear end loose on the G at least once during every drive cycle, I'll probably get 15-20K out of the OEM tires before switching to Michelins.

So anyways, I went last week to get the new wheels and tires and I LOVE how they look. The rims have Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on there which look badass. The problem is that there is RIDICULOUS noise when slowing down from 40 to 0 now. It's incredibly obnoxious, my friend's lifted H2 with like 38" tires aren't this damn loud, no lie. What can i do? I've looked on Consumer Reports and they have the noise rating for these tires as "Good", which is the highest they have any of the tires rated. The 17s had Michelin's on there and the car rode SILENTLY, now it SUCKS ***, it literally RUINED the ambience of the car and I'm really pissed about it. What tires do you guys have? are they loud? does anyone else have these same tires and is or is not experiencing this obnoxious noise? thanks guys.
I have the same tires, and I absolutely hate them. They are slightly warped so I get a really annoying "wup wup wup wup" noise at low speeds, and they sound like s*** when slowing from 40 to 0, just like you said.

I don't have the money to just throw around on tires, but as soon as these tires are NEAR worn they're GONE.
